The Docs say I have to have a fitbit account (which I created)... and a fitbit Device associated with the account.
I do NOT have a fitbit, but my wife does. Can I associate her fitbit with MY account? Even if it is already associated with HER account?
Or does this mean I'm going to have to get my own for development?

The easiest solution may be to use your wife's account for developing. You can't have a Fitbit OS device on two accounts simultaneously, and swapping them between accounts can get old.
Or, yes, buy another watch. The economy needs it! 😉
