The FitBit app that comes with the watch. why cant the app count steps while the watch is being charged or since i am allergic to the wrist bands so last night (02.03.24 i took a shower and of course i had to take my watch off i forgot to put it back on. so all day i did not have the watch on. what i am sayin is this: The App should be counting steps even if the watch is not on my wrist. Samsung Health app does this. Its weird i get Samsung Health App for free but someone paid for my watch & it cant do that? the Sense 2 needs to be undated & the update should be to the app not the watch i saw the prices for a Fitbit watch unfortunately i am not able to pay the prices for a new watch. I live on what some call fixed income. Fitbit owned my Google which is owned by Alphabet which there is no way to speak to someone from a Alphabet, i pay for YouTube and pay extra funds to make sure i have enough room to storage. Fitbit think of the poor people. Remember The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few" Quote by Spoock from Star Trek TNG. My Fav are Voyager DS9 & TNG. Hi @DJDavey

here are the support contacts I've gleaned over the years on the forums.

when there is someone available, chat is an option. Phone or X/Twitter works well, too.

@DJDavey   Your app can count steps when you aren't wearing your Fitbit.  The Fitbit app has a feature called MobileTrack.  It directly uses the motion sensors in your phone.  To activate MobileTrack, please tap on the devices/battery icon in the upper left > tap on Add phone and follow the rest of the prompts.  I don't use Samsung Health, but it looks like it works like Apple Health -- you need a third party app to link the two accounts.

A minor correction.  Spock spoke that line in Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan in 1982.

@LZeeW that and Spock wasn't part of the crew on TNG (and neither DS9, although I don't count "The Trouble with Tribbles"/"Trials and Tribble-ations" cross-over where DS9 and TOS worlds meet so Spock and Kirk are on DS9 🙂 ). Well... good to see there are fans of ST here 😁

Good day,

What version of the Fitbit app do you have? The current version I have is 4.09.3 on a Pixel 6a.

@DJDavey   This is my page when I tap on my devices/battery icon:

If the Phone option is missing, then your phone doesn't support MobileTrack.  It's a hardware issue.  Then no, your Fitbit app can't count your steps if you aren't wearing your Fitbit.  Sorry.
