Bought 3x Sense 2: Setup not possible Google Family, Child's Fitbit Account upgrade not available

Guys... There's no mention anywhere on any retailers product description that the Fitbit Sense 2  Devices won't work for kids aged 17,18,16 under Google Family. 

I scrolled through the forum and I am near strangl.ng myself with the devices. 

Please help. What I did so far:

- Created Child's Fitbit Account as patent and linked to google

- Child can login and is visible in Family Group 

- When clicking family as the parent I see  right under the childs name, that the account can he upgraded (not clickable, on Child's phone no upgrade button)

- When trying to add the sense 2 of course I can just add Ace devices 

Please help me to get this to work. I can't return the devices and it was their end of class gift.

I want them to stay under Google Family to limit screentime and check location in emergencies. I don't care about the Fitbit so much. We don't have much and these 3 watches were a big spent for us

Hello @BillFoster and welcome to the Community.  I'm not a Fitbit employee, just a fellow user.  The Fitbit app is available for both Android and iPhones and Google Family is an optional feature for users.  I think it is an inadvertent consequence that the Google Family privacy protections prevent you from adding these devices.

If you want to set up these devices, you must remove your children from your Google family.  Each child needs their own unsupervised Google account and each child sets up the Fitbit on their phone.

I read, but can't confirm from experience, that you can add you children back to your Google Family after they set up their devices.  But it might take 24 hours before you can do it.
