Why can’t I control music from my iPhone with my Fitbit sense 2?

It used to be a feature on previous -generation Fitbit smartwatches. Fitbit hasn't given an official explanation, but many speculate Google is behind this frustrating decision.

Will it come back? No one knows. There's been no hint of it. I wouldn't hold my breath.

@Jamessmith1143The following threads may interest you: https://community.fitbit.com/t5/Versa-4/Versa-4-missing-features/m-p/5250022/highlight/true#M463 and https://community.fitbit.com/t5/Sense-2/Pocket-Casts-Playback-Control/m-p/5277884#M3294 Not sure if it'd work on iOS though.

Spoiler
We can double-press the button on the watch anytime (even during a workout) to access quick shortcuts, one of which is notifications. Tap on notifications, then tap on the notification from your audio-playing app on your phone, and audio-control options (app-dependent) would appear. This assumes the audio-playing app on your phone is one that gives a persistent notification that contains playback control options when the app is playing audio. It's a band-aid solution but better than nothing.

Fingers crossed Fitbit doesn't decide to "patch" this "loophole" with a future update, however unlikely or likely it may be. I don't trust Fitbit anymore (and it's true that they've taken away features before - see PC music file transfers on the Versa 2). I would advise everyone to be wary of future updates Fitbit releases; wait for initial reviews before deciding to install anything.  > <

My wife and self have owned fitbit watches from day 1. We recently upgraded  to Sense 2 from Versa 3 watches and I'm flabbergasted by the removal of music controls and to a slightly lesser degree support for Spotify. I cannot understand why at the very least music controls were not retained as this is standard bluetooth, does not require 3rd party programming and was already a feature for fitbit. I would like to get an explanation from fitbit for this omission. If I knew of this in advance I probably would not have made the 2 purchases.🙁

After spending close to $300 for a new Sense 2, this is making me absolutely livid. I don't care if Google bought out Fitbit. They should think about all the "little guys/girls" who are spending their hard earned dollars to get a new device that has gone backward.

I for one, am pissed. Also thinking of returning the watch and getting a different one from a different company.

I do have the sense too and everything I click on doesn't work for our watch

Try deleting the watch from your phone and then add it again. Then make sure to allow preview of messages in your message settings on your phone, not in the app. In the app just add the setting to allow message notifications. Hope this helps.

That has nothing to do with music controls or the spotify app. Fitbit removed those features and has ticked off  a lot of customers or shall I say now former customers.
