I purchased a Sense 2 watch 2 days back. Initially the watch was connected after some efforts following the instructions on the android mobile app.
the watch was incidentally factory reset by me. after that, every time i link my watch with my android phone the same is not happening. After entering the 4 digit code from watch on mobile phone, connected status is shown on watch. Immediately it starts showing TRYING TO CONNECT. After waiting for 10 minutes error message of UPDATE FAILED is shown on mobile app as well. after force closing the app on mobile and relaunching, the watch is shown as connected and synced and message is shown as UPDATE TRACKER SOFTWARE.
Please help

Do you have the fitbit app in front? Does the update fail when the screen shuts off? I found, with android, I have to move the fitbit app to the background, before the screen shuts off, or the update fails

Hi @Alok09 - if you have tried the solution from @Rich_Laue without success, it may be you have the new V4 Fitbit App and there is an issue following a factory reset where the watch will not install the firmware and the only option is to replace it or get a refund.

Having the same issue. Tried it with multiple Android devices. Also tried restarting device, restarting Bluetooth, removing Bluetooth device from Android device.
My Fit Bit app shows the following version for my Fit Bit Sense 2: 60.3001.153.66 - I can't find anything about this version.
I got my new Fit Bit Sense 2 a few days ago. After the watch constantly restarted and showed a battery of 0% a few minutes after fully charging, I reset it to factory defaults. Now I'm having the problems Alok09 described but it doesn't restart on its own anymore.
I also reset my old Fit Bit Sense [1] because I thought I don't need it anymore and wanted to give it away. I was curious so I tried to update it again via Bluetooth and it also didn't work. When I updated my old Fit Bit Sense via Wifi it worked. So maybe the new app version is not compatible anymore with old firmware versions.

Exactly the same issue with me. My watch was connected for two days, but I wasn't receiving texts, and after much searching for a solution, I did a factory reset. The watch locked up and after many many reboots (10 second hold on the button) it finally rebooted to the language screen. Then trying to sync with the phone, it does the same thing you mention.
I read in another Fitbit forum from a moderator that that happens because the Bluetooth wasn't disconnected before doing the factory reset. That could be true because I did not disconnect it, but if that is true, what a mistake, that needs to be fixed.
Anyhow, I talked with customer service and I was told to return it, so back to Amazon it goes.
Good luck to anyone else that has this issue.
