Exercise display disappearing in midst or exercise, but the app still running in background

After the latest update to 210.26, I will start an exercise, or it get auto-recognized.  Frequently, I would look at my fitbit and notice, instead of the exercise app running, I will see the clockface.

I know the exercise app is running because I can't start another exercise.  Also, when I long press the clockface and swipe to "Open Gallery", I can see my current exercise as a clockface, with the timer still counting, sometimes in different modes, although I can't select that clockface, as can be seen in these 2 images:

I usually have to restart the fitbit for the exercise to stop and have it sync'd to the app on my phone.

Here are 2 exercise that got sync'd after restarting the fitbit, as can be seen, it runs way longer than my exercise routine.  I also have auto-stop enabled on the cycling exercise, so these should have ended soon after I stopped my ride (or stopped mowing the grass).

This one had 2 exercise combined into 1.  The prior day's lawn mowing, which the fitbit thought I was cycling, and the next day's bike ride:
