Fitface clock faces don't work on Sense 2

I'm one of those people who's never happy with a given watch face and I change them all the time, depending on my needs at the time. I have many paid-for Fitface (third party) watch faces. You CAN indeed load these onto the Sense 2, but there are problems...

The main problem is that many of my favorite faces do not display right. The colors are not correct and some features or icons are just missing altogether. I have tried contacting the developers of the individual faces, and though they recognize there is a problem, they say they can't fix it. I guess it's a factor of the changes in the operating system of the Sense 2 (I do realize it's still basically the old OS, but they seem to have broken something here).

I am wondering if anyone else noticed this?

Hi there, @rbittman and @Sewfun.

Thanks for bringing this to our attention, and your efforts while working on this matter. I understand you'd like to use the FitFace clock faces on your Sense 2. However, since they weren't created by Fitbit, we recommend keeping the communication with the developers as they'll be able to provide you with more information.

I'm sorry for this inconvenience and in the meantime you can try using a clock face created by Fitbit which will display your details correctly.

@LizzyFitbit Note the the developers, whom I’ve already contacted, told me it was a Fitbit problem. 😞

@LizzyFitbit

This is what I've managed to gather/understand so far:

  • Ftibit have "ported" over themselves a selection of watchfaces previously developed by third-party developers to the Sense 2 & Versa 4 platform/SDK.

  • Fitbit have not released the SDK to any developers publicly so developers are completely unable to support in any way. Pushing ANY update to their watchfaces through their existing SDK methods then removes the "ported" version from the store for Sense 2 & Versa 4 users. This has been verified by a developer that has posted in this community forum.

  • Therefore as it stands developers that have had their watchfaces ported over by Fitbit can either not update their watchfaces in order to maintain their presence in the store for newer devices, or update and have the watchface no longer available for newer devices.

  • What complicates things even more is that a certain developer made an announcement that new watchfaces would be coming to the Sense 2 and Versa 4 and one of their watchfaces has just appeared in the recently added section.

I think a proper response from Fitbit is required to better explain the complete lack of support and communication to the developers or the public except for what seems a 'select few' developers the treatment is different.

@john500y2k That response was very helpful (though I had to look up what SDK was). I've given up expecting the 100+ watch faces I have from Fitface (third party developers) to work on the Sense 2. I find most of the fitbit watch faces to be pretty boring, though I did find the DP watch faces on the Fitbit list that are pretty good. DP's developers seem to be working with fitbit, as I did complain that the heart rate icon was not working correctly, and they fixed it promptly.
