Google's Fitbit EOL Annoyances

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Google keeps removing features from Fitbit since its acquisition.

As a 9 year Fitbit user, I'm finding my $300 health/fitness tracker compares to a $20 pedometer and heart rate tracker.

What a piece of junk.

I cannot select the exercise I am doing. Just auto sense for 2-3.

I can't map my route, because there's no option to select running or walking.

If I push the button twice to see the display, the whole freaking thing reboots!

Google is trying to push fitbit users to their very limited Pixel watch without losing too many customers by decreasing our expectations, feature by feature.

They won't even let me pick my own keywords...🙄🙄

I've always had fitbits since my first One that I got in December 2010. To say I'm an addict would be fair. I think I've not worn one for a total of less than 14 days in 14 years! Google is destroying Fitbit. I hate the Pixel watch. My Sense 2 is too big for my tiny wrist and the Pixel watches are WORSE.

All I want is:

  • Sleep tracking with decent accuracy
  • Step tracking with decent accuracy
  • Stair climbing counts
  • Exercise tracking - I walk, mountain bike, hike, and swim. I am not a runner and don't do anything esoteric. I used to ride horses and fitbit has always been shockingly bad about recording that exercise (anyone who thinks it's NOT exercise has never gotten sweaty doing an hour of dressage!) I honestly don't care if it tracks specific exercises correctly as long as it captures heart rate and energy expended with reasonable accuracy (I am secretly delighted that Fitbit thinks folding laundry is swimming). LOL
  • A face that shows me the time if the device lives on my wrist
  • I like the SpO2 information. I had long COVID and sometimes my SpO2 was in the high 70s/low 80s, so that data matters to me.
  • Interchangeable bands. My wrist is smaller than most people's (apparently) and I hate plastic/rubber next to my skin.
  • I like to have my body fat scale (a Renpho) connect to my fitbit account to show the data together.
  • I like to be able to download a data report to share with my doctor. While I was struggling with long COVID, this was of particular use. It seems to be gone these days and I'm reduced to taking screenshots on my phone.

That's it. I don't care about music, seeing text or phone calls, changeable watch faces, or much else. I don't give a darn about LTE, NFC, GPS, or most other TLAs. If a Fitbit One could do most of my list, I would go back to it, even though I lost several over the years. I almost don't care what the thing costs!

I miss the website dashboard. I hate being chained to my phone. And also, for the love of all that's holy, standardize on the CHARGER CONNECTOR. Different charging cables for every single fitbit device have resulted in my largest electronic waste footprint, and I deeply resent it.

What are you switching to? I am seriously thinking of leaving this ecosystem after so many years but I am very disappointed in Google.

I'm still looking.

Google Fit records most of my data, so no big loss if I leave Fitbit. 10 years of minutia is not worth the aggravation and disappointments.

I hear you. However, Google can’t push me to a Pixel Watch because I’m using an iPhone. 😉

Well I replied to this but a moderator decided answering the question posed was 'off topic' and 'not contributing' and deleted the post.

Feel free to send me a PM and I'll let you know the brand I plan to switch to.

I think I'm going to Garmin because I'm so pissed off.

At the supermarket earlier today, punching in my code for payment was  SO SQUIRRELY that I had to pull out my card!

So done with this hunk of junk!

I am going to Garmin.

Google has completely alienated me.

Fave features: GONE

Pay feature: has gone totally off the reservation!
