Hey eveyone,
So I got a Fitbit Sense 2 back in April and it did a Firmware update but there hasn't really been anything since then. I'm just wondering how do the updates work with Fitbit? I've had a few Fitbit app updates but nothing to do with the Sense 2 itself. How often should the firmware updates be happening?

Hello @jimson8 and welcome to the Community. There is no set pattern, but it turns out there is a firmware update rolling out right now. There is an update rolling out to many devices at once. It will take some time before all users get theirs. There is no preference list, so users get them when they get them.

Hi @jimson8 - regarding firmware updates, these should never be applied unless you are sure what is going to change for you as you can't go back and may incur more problems afterwards and is rarely the cure for any problems you may have, many of which can be transitory or related to the phone or settings.
To see what the affect is of any firmware update it is best to check the forums. In the case of the latest update it is causing all sorts of issues so best not to apply it.

I would agree with @Guy_. I have the update available for my Sense 2 but am holding off until these issues are fixed.
Many users are saying the latest FW has broken their heart rate tracking.

@jimson8 Fitbit updates devices very rarely (compared to other companies or even Google updating Pixel Watch monthly). The problem with updates is that they often don't deliver detailed change logs so it's hard to tell what to expect after updating. Sometimes there is a short list of new features (and sometimes not) but there is rarely anything about bugs fixed and other improvements. It means that when you decide to update the Fitbit device it's a kind of leap of faith. So far there were just two updates for Sense 2 (the latest is being rolled out now). As @Guy_ and @N8teGee said, there have been reports of issues after updating watches so it may be wise to wait.
@Guy_ "these should never be applied unless you are sure what is going to change for you" - we always know there are "bug fixes and performance improvements" or something like that 😉 But seriously, I totally agree. Fitbit updates should be way more transparent and thoroughly tested. Fitbit is the only brand that I'm dreading to install any updates as this may mean the end of the life of my watch.
