Is the heart rate monitor completely worthless?

Then please explain to me how an hour and a half Bluegrass concert can get me 54 minutes including cardio and peak. ...And an hour long bike ride gets me zero and an average heart rate of 69.

My experience shows that bike rides are among the most inaccurate when it comes to HR. Until today, I have never had a bike ride with heart rate readings event remotely correct (compared with a chest strap). Zone minutes depend on HR so here's your answer.

As we speak, I don't even have it on and it is registering a heart rate. Also this morning it kept jumping up and down in wild ranges from like 80 to 130 and I wasn't even moving

Hi @Mmartinek24  - the watch may be faulty but it could also be a clock face issue.

To check go to the Today app on the watch and see if it shows the same erratic issue. If not change clock face.

Also sync and look at the heart rate in the app, which is more an average so you may not see spikes.

If it behaves extracatily a restart by holding the button for 10 seconds till it vibrates and logo appears can help.

However the topic of HR being worthless is an issue in general when exercising or moving but is generally good when worn at rest, and for that type of measurement, such as sleep.
