I chatted with Fitbit and they covered a replacement even though it was out of warranty. Maybe give a try.

I chatted with them too... Apparently trying to look up my warranty information generated an error in their system. So they were escalating it and were going to get back to me... Need to double check my spam folder but I haven't seen anything yet.

This is a very, very rare case.

Are you saying the metal tr falling off is a rare case? Because. Judging by all the forums I’ve looked up manyyyyy people have also had this issue.

Sorry for any confusion.  It is a very rare case the Fitbit is covering this outside of the warranty period.

They refused to do anything about mine 30 days out of warranty when the first strip fell off.  This is after it spent the first month under a Christmas tree as a gift for my wife.  The second fell off some time later.  I super-glued them both back on, and have had no problem from the strips ever since.

I work in manufacturing and deal with product quality.  At the very least this is a manufacturing defect, but given the long time that this keeps recurring, it is almost certainly a design and materials defect.  Deny, deny, deny...

There is an ECG app in the Fitbit Sense 2 and these metal plates conduct signal I’m guessing .

I never use that app but tried last night -

Good luck with your issue -

I ordered a special glue that's intended for this sort of thing and will make my own repair if they don't get back to me soon. I've done a lot of computer and phone repair so I should be fine... Was just hoping they'd stand by their product.

This has also happened to me. I Keep my fitbit dry, no showers, baths, or swimming. Even though you are supposed to be able to do those thing. Mine still fell off. I am outside of the warranty period now so I don't think they will help me. Clearly this is a manufacturer defect. These things aren't built to last more then a year. I've been so disappointed with the quality of fitbit products I've through a few warranty issues :(. I like the features but I am not confident I should put any more money into these products.

Thinking of switching to an Apple Watch but unsure which to get and if they will hold up better than the sense 2. I’m aware that you have to charge it everyday which is fine but I just hope I can get more than 2 yrs out of it.

No, I am definitely not saying that I'm a rare case. I'm aware that this
is a widespread problem & all I've done on this forum (since posting the
metal strip problem) is reply to others who respond with the same problem,
so I don't know how you got that impression.

It seems to be more reliable, but the only thing is that Apple watches pair with Apple products, not Android. Fitbit pairs with IOS and Android. Basically, making it universal.

I started with Apple Watch. Battery went dead too fast. I like the sleep information I get with Fitbit. This piece falling off is a problem that Fitbit needs to address. Apple Watch is significantly more expensive. I can buy two fitbits for one Apple Watch. I also like the community challenges and sharing.

Hi, I am a Fitbit Sense 2 owner/user and my metal plate came off. I bought mine in 2023. What can I do? It happened through normal/regular usage and I have not tampered with it or glued it back on. It's just sat here in front of me.

Chat with Fitbit. Mine was out of warranty and was replaced without cost. Worth a try.

You've had more success with Fitbit than most with this metal strip issue and they were actually responsive to you in this instance which is surprising considering all the other not so good outcomes & complaints I've seen posted.  Could it be that FitBit are finally listening and acting to improve customer relations by addressing this issue?!  Nice to dream about but I'm not holding my breath.

I reached out to them just to see. They gave me a 35% off code. Even tho it’s a known problem they have. The said it only happens to the sense 2 and recommended trying a different device like the charge or versa but I’ve had 2 charge 5s die on my in the past so I don’t know about that….

Easier said than done. Help centre sends very generic responses and does nothing to help.

Only if the chats are transparent & viewable by all forum users. I do
want the whole world to know about this issue, after all.
