New firmware 210.26 - where is it? - UPDATED 19 AUG 2024

Good afternoon all

Has anyone in the UK seen the new firmware release yet? I've had a sense 2 since original release and I know that firmware updates are released in waves,  but this new one seems particularly slow to me ... I'm reading of some folks on here having problems with the updates so I'm wondering if the rollout has been paused?

Please let me know if you've received the update in the UK and if it worked?

Thanks.

19/08/24 - UPDATE - App version 4.22 (Android, Samsung S23 Ultra) has just this evening offered me the firmware update! Now, with all the problems people are reporting around the upgrade, I am hesitate to apply it!

Hi @MYOHMY - Can't speak to the update rollout in UK.  But can confirm it's seems a little slow in the U.S. too.  We have two Sense 2 trackers; one got the firmware update on 7/26 but the other one has not.  I know, patience is a virtue 😋

Hi @ExAlaskan - here's hoping Google & Fitbit step on the gas soon and your 2nd Sense 2 gets the update.

I still smell a deliberate pause from the team at Google/Fitbit  but not sure why ... there just seem to be very few folks saying they've received 210.26 and it worked, the only voices (apart from you) seem to be those for whom it hasn't worked.

I received it and just realized that my heart rate monitor was not working any longer - the same exercise that would result in 30+ minutes of cardio ended up with 2 minutes of fat burn. I just tried to restart my devise and it ended up doing something really wonky and then brought up the screen that you get when the device is new. I then had to add the device again and update - it only updated to the prior version (not 210 whatever) and the heart monitor is now showing cardio and is more responsive. I knew something was wrong as I strapped on my old Sense and could see the heart rate data was way different just jogging in place. So, I'm not anxious for the update and happy that it seems to be working correctly again - fingers crossed that it stays that way.

Mainland US resident here. Earlier today (16Aug.) my Fitbit app--- the latest SW version thereof, 4.23, for Android, to which I had updated just a few days prior--- indicated that an update was available for my Sense2. So I go ahead and update it, from FW ver 194.86 to 220.26.

seems maybe slightly faster to acquire a GPS signal. not sure about accuracy of other metrics (overall nor compared to previous version).  But now a new issue seems to have arisen: short GPS activities are not saving a traversal, even if the watch and seemingly acquired a location before or during the realtime exercise recording---- whereas recordings from FW294.86 of the dome nature _do_ show a placement.  This elimination might be intentional, considering that as of a few app versions ago apparently it will not let you save a walk or the likenl of shorter than 0.06 miles or so (whereas before iIrc 0.01units paired with atleast a few seconds sufficed).

I do notice some minor improvements to the current soft- and fiirm- ware versions as compared to before. Now you can record laps within a a "Hike" from the watch whereas previously only from "Walk" and "Run". However the same was not been applied to thr app live-recording option, and with removal of the Web dashboard now and still cannot view these 'laps' in an overview (sans capable authorized thirdparty). Also evidently the app shows an icon next to activities that do in fact have associated geopositional data included (and not for those thwt do not--- thus confirming that yep those short ones from the watch really didn't save all thr datums despite appearing like was during).

@MBwalkingMB You were able to revert your Sense2 to previous firmware?

Thanks. I didn’t know there was a new firmware update release at all.

I haven’t received any update either. Everything is slow at Fitbit these days. We can’t hold our breath on it.

Hey,

I got the new firmware yesterday.

No idea what the actual differences are but this morning it recognised my regular 3x a week swim as rowing, not impressed.

Fitbit makes it hard for users to know the changes in general.

I found the info here:

@JohnGover You just hit this new feature:

  • Your device can now auto-recognize 3 new workout types: elliptical, rowing, and spinning

Just updated the Android Fitbit app to 4.23. Don’t see anything about the app update in the Community (still has comments for the older 4.22 version).

Now get a notification (red dot on icon in app) that there is new firmware available for the Sense 2 watch after updating the Fitbit app. Did not get firmware update notification with the old 4.22 app version on one of the sense 2 watches we have.

Note -- we have already updated the firmware to 210.26 on one of our Sense 2 watches several weeks prior to the app update with no problems. The app did give an firmware update notification.  After reading the responses in the Community, we’re a little concerned about updating the firmware to 210.26 on the remaining watch. Sorry if this confuses anyone since we’re talking about both an app update and a watch firmware update in the same thread.

Has anyone updated to the 210.26 firmware version after updating to the newest version of the Fitbit app (4.23)? @asiayeah - did you update firmware after updating to Fitbit app 4.23?  Just wondering, doubt there is any interaction but thought it was worth asking 😉  FWIW - we are in the US.

@ExAlaskan I updated the Fitbit app but there is no firmware update showing up yet. Thanks.

@asiayeah  I got the new firmware and just tried the auto-recognize feature on spinning.  I manually started the spinning session, but when I went to look at the fitbit after the session is over, it disappears from view, instead, I see the watchface.  I couldn't activate any of the exercises afterward until I rebooted the Sense 2.  It might have auto-stopped the exercise, as it recognized as a 44 min session.

For the next session, I turned off auto-stop.  It did auto-start the spinning session, but at the end, I saw the watch face again with its inability to do anything in the exercise screen.  I did not reboot, but an hour or so later when I went to look at the fitbit, I saw it was in exercise mode again.  I stopped the exercise and ended up with a 2 hour spin session.

My wife's sense 2 was also having issues, out of the 2 back to back sessions, a 15, 19 and 16 min sessions got recorded.  I turned auto-on and auto-off afterward.

Anyone in the UK seen 210.26 yet and successfully installed it?

... still waiting patiently...

I just checked and installed the update. I’m in Hong Kong but it’s really random.

There is now a YouTube Music icon in the Fitbit app. It is asking me to setup a free premium trial. It only supports its own YouTube Music but not any other music services. Does it ring the bell for anyone or organisation?

@asiayeah @ExAlaskan

I've just this evening (UK) received notification of the update on App version 4.22. Like ExAlaskan I'm wary about letting the upgrade go ahead as I don't want to brick my watch. Any advice, thoughts welcome.

@MYOHMY the update works for me. I would suggest you to pick a good time to install it. Also please make sure your Sense 2 is fully charged and close to your phone when updating. Better charge your phone while updating, too. A restart or reboot on your Sense 2 and phone before the update would help as well. Fingers crossed.

You may also want to use a watchface from Fitbit before the update.

It it fails, rest assure Fitbit will recommend you to switch to Pixel Watch. 😉

I updated to iOS app version 4.23 five days ago, then got Sense 2 firmware update notification, so I updated, now the app is freezing, won’t sync unless I close it and restart, takes steps away, etc.

Also, my Sense 2 hasn’t recorded  sleep details, Stress Score, and only random health metrics since the firmware update.

I factory reset my Sense 2, and deleted and reinstalled the app before I did the firmware update.
Now nothing is working!

iPhone 13, iOS version 17.6.1.

Proceed at your own peril!

I'm with you. Just allowed the update yesterday, and today I can't seem to get above a 78 HR during my spinning, and got exactly 1 minute of cardio on a 20 mile ride.
