Phone notifications disappears from Sense 2

I got a fitbit sense 2 for Christmas. I am frustrated over the fact that when I get a notification from phone etc that it does not stay on the fitbit for very long. Stays for a couple of minutes and then the notification disappears. Can someone help with this. Is this the way it is or is there some settings I am missing.

Hi @thisoldman444  - if you haven't opened the notification on the phone or watch, swipe the watch face up to see your unopened notifications.
