Sense 2 heart rate not constant

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

My heart rate is going blank on my Sense 2. It will show up briefly, then show the double dashes like it has lost connection. I have adjusted the tightness of the band multiple times but that doesn’t help. Is anyone else seeing this and do you have a fix for it?

Hi @Denitra - this may be a tattoo issue, if you place it where there are no tattoos does it work?

Otherwise try restarting it or change clock face.

If that doesn't resolve it may need replacing under warranty.

No tattoos. This is my 6th Fitbit and I have never had this issue unless I am very sweaty. I can reposition it and it will work for a few seconds then go off again. I have tried to loosen and tighten my Fitbit band. I have slid it higher and lower on my arm. I can hold my arm still and get it to read and it will still go off after a few seconds, even if I didn’t move my arm at all.

@Denitra- very odd, some possible things to try.

When you pull down from the top of the watch to get to Quick Settings make sure Sleep and Do not Disturb are not active and Wrist wake is active.

Then it should show always once you raise your wrist.

Also swipe the watch face left so you see the active values in the Today and see if heart rate shows correctly there. If it does then try changing the clock face you are using for another one.

I didn’t think about checking the “today” settings to see if it went off there. I checked and it isn’t doing it there.
I changed my clock faces several times and thought I had changed to an actual Fitbit created face but when I double checked, I somehow ended up with a third party one. I have changed to a Fitbit face and will monitor it for a while. Maybe there are some bugs that need working out with 3 party developers since it’s a new device. I really like the
Heavy stats faces and Fitbit doesn’t have much in that area!

Thanks for the feedback @Denitra, hope the clock face change fixes it.

Be aware that 3rd party clocks cannot be supported currently - the porting was an automated process and developers have no means to test or support the clock faces if something isn't working, though you can still contact them to inform them of problems.

I'm having this issue during sports activities. On the watchface HR is being displayed fine (I'm using the Dash watchface by Fitbit).

However, I'm often seeing the 2 dashes instead of HR value during sports activities. During kettlebell swings, very low HR values are being recorded in the final log.

Today, no HR was measured at all during walk and during krav-maga training. There used to be reasonable values recorded for these activities before.

I've reset the watch and will see if things improve.

You are not alone with this.   Gone through at least 6 Fitbit devices since the company started. Maybe more.  Not one problem until the sense 2.  I’ve lost confidence in it and Fitbit for not recognizing they have a problem with it. Being told I’m the problem rubbed me the wrong way. I understand your shock at how hard it is to get this device to work consistently.

So what is the company doing to help the situation?  I am a new user, decided to go with the Sense 2 versus a Samsung watch and wife also bought one too at the same time.

On my watch, my heart rate for the last 6 hours is saying my BPM over 95... yet if I physically count it, OR put my wife's watch on my wrist, I get a much lower reading - 77 to 81 bpm...    The heart rate variation worked for the first week, now has no readings... and the ECG - which I depend on since I have CHF, works only 40% of the time...  honest opinion this watch is crap compared to an iWatch or a Samsung....

I don’t know what customer service will do at this time. After reading so many of these issues, I hastily requested a refund and cancelation of premium service. They should contact me soon with an offer somewhere between me keeping it and reloading the firmware to getting away from Fitbit for a while. Been using Fitbit from the company’s first year and maybe it’s time to move on. Until then I am monitoring it closely looking for the fly in the ointment. 45 years as an engineer makes me more curious as to the problem and its inevitable solution.

Mine is the same. I'm so frustrated.

Yup, I've been a FitBit user from the beginning and this one will be my last for sure. I'm pretty ticked about the issues considering the price tag of the watch.

I am noticing issue during workouts as well, and not sweaty workouts. I am not getting HR readings during low intensity workouts.
