Sense 2 only turns on when plugged to charger

Hello,

Since yesterday, I’ve been experiencing issues with my Fitbit Sense 2.

The Fitbit is not working, and the screen remains black.

It only turns on when I connect it to the charger. While on the charger, I’ve tried both a soft reset and a hard reset, but as soon as I disconnect it, even when it shows 100% battery, the screen goes black again and it doesn’t respond to anything.

Without the charger connected, I’m also unable to sync it.

I read in other articles that changing the clock face might help. I’ve tried this as well, but unfortunately, it didn’t solve the issue either.

Can someone help me with this issue? Thanks in advance!

This is the exact same problem that I have too.  My Sense 2 only works when connected to a charger.  I too have done a hard reset several times, I have even purchased a new original Fitbit charger incase it was that, but still it will only work when connected to a charger.

I get a black screen otherwise.  I have also tried cleaning the back of the Sense 2, incase that was dirty as recommended (it wasn't dirty to the naked eye), but that made zero difference either.  My Sense 2 is only just 2 years old.

Hi @MelvinColle and @Crugan23 Welcome to  the Fitbit Community! It's great to have you here!

Let me help you with the issue of your device that only turns on when it's connected to the charger. I appreciate all the efforts already done.

This is certainly a battery issue. It means the battery does charge but it's unable to hold current to a level to keep the device on. It can also be the case that the battery doesn't charge and the current that supplies the device is actually the energy from the take.

In any of the both cases, i recommend that you contact our tech support for research more in depth. They count with the appropriate tools to do so. I appreciate your time in this process.

Happy 2025!

This is very similar to my issue but I am not so sure it is a battery problem When I remove power cable the screen does go black and unresponsive. However - it does temporaily come back to life if I hold down the main button for around 10 seconds - and it will stay working if I continue to move/touch the screen. When I stop touching the screen then it goes off/times out and it stays off.

This is a brand new device - opened out of the box just after Christmas, so it hasn't worked at all. Just completed an RMA with Google/Fitbit only to be told that my brand new device will likely be replaced with a refurbished device!!   I have to say that it is very shoddy service if my faulty new device is going to be swapped out with a second hand one!!
