I bought a Sense 2 about two weeks ago and I ride a motorcycle several times a week. Every time that I ride the Sense 2 records vibrations as steps walked and floors climbed. I've seen old posts for other devices (e.g. Versa, Flex) that advise putting the watch in "drive mode" or deleting data. I do not see a drive mode on the Sense 2 and the only option to delete data is to delete the entire day's data. My 5 year old Galaxy S10 recorded 16,417 steps last week and my Sense 2 recorded 57,807; the S10 is accurate. Is there a way to stop the Sense 2 from recording inaccurate data?

I made a YouTube shorts video a few months back explaining how to remove steps and floors whilst driving. Hopefully it might be of some help here.

Hi @N8teGee,
Thanks for pointing me to your video. The procedure does work, but what a pain to do this every time I ride. It seems that the leader in wearable fitness trackers could detect that someone is riding or driving a motorized vehicle if they can detect a walk or run. I'm very disappointed in Fitbit.
Cheers

It's not ideal, but if it makes you feel any better all of the other brands suffer the same limitations. I have another device that is more than three times the price of a Fitbit and it does count some steps whilst driving (albeit a lot less). Unfortunately it's a limitation in how these devices measure steps (using the accelerometer), with the bumps from driving looking quite similar to the bumps when walking. Being too aggressive discarding what it thinks might be steps during driving could mean that it also discards genuine steps.

I understand how these devices measure steps with accelerometers, but they also have software that interprets the accelerometers and location. As a former software developer, I know that it would not be difficult to determine to detect driving activity based on location changes. They do this for running and walking activity detection.

@rcampb I don't disagree with you. Although I can imagine there would be scenarios where it would get things wrong, just like it does with the auto exercise tracking.
Personally I would be happy with a driving workout shortcut that I could start when driving and stop when finished, where this would then remove steps and floors from that period. The closest we ever got was Drivebit, but that was started and stopped on the phone.
You can add your vote to this product feedback idea (here), but seeing as it was started in 2014 I would keep expectations low.
