I've recently upgraded to a Sense 2 and everything seems OK except sleep tracking. It is consistently underestimating the amount of sleep I have and gives scores from 3.5 hours to 4.5 hours. The app / firmware is up to date and no other issues. The impression I have is that if I wake up in the night even if only for a minute, the app thinks I'm awake and does not register going back to sleep. I have set the sleep target and for the right times but that has made no difference.
Suggestions welcome please.

Welcome to the Fitbit community, @Rick8 and @BeaJay006!
Sad to hear that you're having issues concerning sleep tracking with your Sense 2.
As a first approach to hopefully get things fixed I'd suggest setting up a sleep schedule and a sleep goal. To see how to do that please have a look at 'How do I set a sleep schedule in the Fitbit app?' and 'How do I set or change my sleep goal in the Fitbit app?' following this link:
How do I track my sleep with my Fitbit device?
I'll keep my fingers crossed.

Hi @Rick8 @BeaJay006 @Talahthas
I don’t personally think that the problem is unique to your own devices as there’s been quite a few complaints and reports of the same and (similar data loss issue) reported by other users across the different device forums. Further along In the sense 2 forum threads there are some posts where there’s been quite a lot of discussion around the loss of sleep data (and sometimes heart rate data) capture/reporting in the App but looking at the commonality of all users it does seem to me that it’s linked to the rollout of the new App as it’s occurred since App v4.0 arrived. I haven’t seen an official comment from Google Fitbit about this specific issue so far but some of the temporary solutions shared by other users have been as follows :
Try and disassociate your Fitbit device from the App overnight, so perhaps try turning off the Bluetooth connection from your phone overnight when you are sleeping then the next morning after switching Bluetooth back on open your Fitbit App and sync the data. (You may need to sync several times to get the full synchronisation complete). Other users have tried switching off their Fitbit devices for a prolonged period of time then re-pairing the Fitbit device and phone or closing down the Fitbit App for a prolonged duration.
There doesn’t seem a specific single ‘fix that’s working for everyone but perhaps one of those may help you short term. It’s also been mentioned by many that although the data is missing in the App it’s not missing on your device. For example some have mentioned that at the same time sleep data has stopped (say 2am on their App) their heart rate data on the App is also missing from that same time, yet it’s showing on the Fitbit device. I hope some of that information helps you. Fingers crossed and let’s hope that the issue is fixed soon.

Thanks both for your suggestions. I already tried the sleep schedule and target but it didn’t help. I have found something that has worked for the past couple of nights though, which is to switch sleep sensitivity to “sensitive” from standard in the wellness settings.

Hi, my experience of the sense 2 is that its a poor product and loses data and has many other problems as well, so very little that FitBit offer as a fix will work, my advice would be to replace it and think about alternatives to FitBit

I have a similar problem. Additionally, it thinks I am sleeping when I am not (sitting in a meeting, watching a movie, reading a book). It is very frustrating. I am thinking upgrading to sense 2 was a waste of money.

It looks like the 'sensitive' setting hasn't actually worked. I think like others have said there is a firmware issue, for example yesterday the sleep trackings said I'd had 5 hours 25 mins sleep and then changed to 7 hours 15 mins - and then kept changing between the two. The 7 hours 15 mins was about right and the 5 hours 25 mins was definitely an error - however when I now look at the app again it is saying 5 hours 25 mins. And changing the target and sleep schedule makes no difference.

Hi, I already tried these and they made no difference.

I agree, I updated from a Versa that was 3-4 years old, mostly because the sleep tracking data started to be a bit off - however the Sense 2 is worse on the sleep tracking and is no better than the Versa on anything at all. I'm going to check if I am still in the period where I can send it back.

Nothing works unfortunately - I’ve been experiencing this issue ever since the new look app was launched. Never encountered this issue with the old app. It seems to be an issue between the sense 2 and the app not receiving all the information regarding heart rate overnight even though you can clearly see your heart rate recorded on the sense 2 🤷:female_sign:. It will work intermittently, you might get 2 weeks of data then you’ll get every other day.
To be fair you shouldn’t have to be turning off blue tooth, reseting the device or anything else as it should all be working properly as advertised . However Google don’t care as this is clearly an issue and they have zero idea as to what’s caused the issue in their updated app. I’m really disappointed and will moving to a different provider which is sad as I’ve loved my Fitbit for years 😢
