Sense 2 steps data don't match after sync

This week I have noticed a very annoying problem with my Sense 2 no longer reliably syncing its data

I go out for a walk, and when I get back home after 90 min, the sense 2 shows on screen a step count over 10k steps. When I sync however, I notice that the total step count for the day is below 10k and when I go to the hourly steps in the app, I see a total under  2k steps split across the 2 hourly periods. Interestingly, the distance graph does show correct values, approx 8 km split across 2 hourly periods (as if I had a stride of 4m per step, or about 13' per step in imperial units). Re-sync does not fix anything, it is as if it is losing or misrecording information during the sync and once the data is gone, it's lost forever. This happened on 8/27/2024 and then again today, 8/30/2024, second time this week. The version shown in the system info is 60.200001.210.26

I believe an update was pushed out recently. Is there some way of reverting to the previous version?

Hi there @ecrz! Welcome to the Fitbit Community!

Thank you for sharing with us the experience you're having with your Sense 2 steps not matching between your Fitbit and Fitbit App.

Can you please check if you have "MobileTrack" activated?

MobileTrack is a Fitbit feature that uses your phone's sensors to count steps when you don't have your Fitbit with you.

It's possible that the steps recorded on your phone overwrite those on your Sense 2.

Here's how to turn this feature off:

  • In the Fitbit app, tap the device icon (top left).
  • There you'll see the devices paired with your account.
  • If you see the "MobileTrack" option, tap it and remove it from the account.

I also recommend updating the Fitbit app if you're still using the old version.
