Should I buy a sense 2 for my dad (56M)?

My dad has high blood pressure and sleep apnea. Should i get him a sense 2 for his birthday or is there any other alternative options? Especially newer models as the sense 2 was released in 2022 and I worry it might become severely outdated if fitbit releases anything new in 2026.

@s1tantn Google has confirmed that there will be new Fitbit hardware in 2026. They haven't yet given any indication of what that hardware will be. They have stated that there will be no Fitbit smartwatches (like the Sense 2) in the future. If your dad wants a Fitbit smartwatch, the Sense 2 would be a good choice.

If he's interested in a tracker, it might be better to wait, but we also don't know when in 2026 this new hardware will come out. The Charge 6 is a tracker that was released in 2023, so it's newer than the Sense 2 but it's not actually new. It's the newest Fitbit device though. 

Since you mentioned hypertension and sleep apnea, be aware that there is no Fitbit device that is able track those conditions.

No! Mine died after a year and a half. I have been a loyal Fitbit owner for over 7 years. They looked into my battery & system and agreed that it was failing, and not my fault. They only offered me 35% off a new one. They should stand behind their products and the products should last longer, like the old fitbits did.

Depending on your dad's necessities the Sense 2 can be a good option. 
But I would also recommend the Pixel Watch Serie.

No my children bought me one and it hasn't worked.  It won't receive text messages or calls from iphone.  I have looked at the site and nothing works.  No response for help.  Had a Versa 2 and it worked better than this. Wouldn't buy.

What messages are not coming through? Normal SMS or Text messages from any communication app (eg, WhatsApp, Messenger, iMessage, etc?)
Is the Fitbit app allowed to run in the background?

Just to confirm, did you read this info about the text messages? Why are notifications delayed or missing

For your father's conditions, no fitness tracker is suitable.  For BP, get a BP monitor.  For Sleep Apnea, consult a physician and possibly use a CPAP machine for treatment and mesurement.  These fitness devices even advertise they can do you ECG (ofcourse with a disclaimer that you should consult a physician for its accuracy).  Use Sense to measure the distance walked, your hear rate, stairs climbed and possibly calories burned.

Brand new Sense 2 tried to get it to send text and calls from my iphone.  Tried the support notes nothing helped.  Not impressed.  Loved my Versa 2 but not this I'm going to ask my children to send it back. The trouble shooting is not helpful.
