Why is the app showing incorrect miles.  12000 should be 6 miles and it shows 5.25

@Lleslie Where are you seeing this? Why should there be 2000 steps per mile. My number of steps per mile varies. My inside steps are generally shorter than when I am outside. If you are looking in an exorcise, then you may need to calibrate it to you. Again, where are you seeing this?

Steps per mile is completely dependent on stride length, and stride length varies not only per person (based on height and other factors) but also varies for a single person depending on the stride length inherent in different speeds. For example at a slow walk, I usually have about 2,200 steps per mile, while at a fast run I have closer to 1,600 steps per mile. FitBit does allow you to override its estimates of your stride length, but only for two specific speeds that it calls "walking" and "running". Right now, mine is set on automatic and has 29.1 inches for walking and 35.8 inches for running. This makes FitBit's estimate for me at 2,177 steps per mile while walking and 1,770 steps per mile while running. A little off from what I have measured, but since it is going to vary anyway depending on Walk, Power Walk, Slow Jog, Medium Jog, Fast Jog, Run, Fast Run, all out Sprint - it doesn't make much difference. It comes down to FitBit's mileage reporting (when based on steps and not based on GPS) is just a decent guess and is not intended to be 100% correct.
