My new Sense 2 seems to turn on even if I activate “button only” mode. I looked up in the Manual and found out that button only mode means button and tap to wake. However, the tap to wake function is all over the place for me and not working as I thought it should.
I experimented with the watch and my questions are the following:
-Is the tap to wake function triggered by tapping on the screen (i.e. by the touchscreen)?
-Is the tap to wake function triggered by the gyroscope or other sensors in the watch?
Basically, for me, it seems like that the second option is true. I cannot get the screen to wake by tapping. I have to almost “knock” on the watch to wake. However, if i tap the sides of the case two times, the watch always lights up. I tested this in quite a few scenarios and it seems like I can even tap twice everywhere on the case and the watch lights up.
Is it how it should function or I am having some issues?
Many thanks in advance.

The tap shows very inconsistent behaviour and I see no pattern. Sometimes light tap wakes up the screen any time (and orientation), other times I can hammer the screen many times and it won't budge. Just the way it is. What I suspect is that the longer watch screen is off the harder to wake it with tap and that may have an explanation in reducing touch sensitivity (checking for taps less frequently) so some taps are missed and not recognized. That's just my SW engineer guess as I see no other explanation (and I try to apply some logic to Fitbit's coding, maybe that's my mistake).
