watch time doesn' t update on sense 2 when running google maps

I notice that when I'm running Google Maps navigation on my Sense 2, the time on my watch doesn't update. This is particularly troubling when I arrive at my destination, but forget to exit Google Maps on my watch. The time doesn't update and I have misread the time on several occations. Is this a bug? Is there a way to get my Sense 2 to automatically exist Google Maps when I've arrived at my destination (like it automatically starts when I begin my navigation)?
