Android app shows Notification service not running

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I've fully set-up the notifications on my Fitbit Sense but it keeps stop working. It then shows in the notifications part of the app:

'Notification service not running. A phone restart is required to re-enable notification on your tracker'

A restart doesn't work of course, after searching the community I thought found the answer. After clearing all data of the app and setting up the notifications again it does work, for a short while. After a few hours or after a night, it has the same issue.

I don't want to clear the data of the app every day just to get the notifications working. Does anybody has a solution or can anyone look at this issue?

I'm on a Xiaomi mi9 that's working on Android.

Hi @Honey91 and welcome to the forum. I did a little research and found the Xiaomi m6 is not compatible with Fitbit devices because of its Bluetooth issues that prevent certain devices, like Fitbit devices, from syncing. I’ve not been able to find out if your later model corrected the issue or not. Hopefully someone who has that phone will respond.

Hi Carol-B,

Thank you for investing time in my issue. At the moment it does work fine except the notifications. So they've definitely improved something. I hope someone will respond quickly as well.

Stay safe

After searching a lot for my Honor 10 and trying all the "clear cache" and "disable-enable notification access solutions" I finally got it working and not crush every few hours. Something is shutting down the service working on the background, either by a 3rd party app either bys the OS.

I went to Setttings - Apps - Fitbit - Power Usage details - App launch - and unchecked manage automatically

Hope there is something like that as an option for you. I'm in Android 10.

Hi LiliumJSN,

Thank you, haven't thought of that. I've tried it now as I indeed have an option for that as well (can be found in an other place but same idea).

Thanks, I'll keep you updated.
