My husband really wants the Fitbit sense or other smart watch with ECG capability in Canada for his birthday and Christmas combined. Is Canada going to get the ecg app or is buying him a sense a waste and should I just get him an Apple Watch?

1) ECG's on all smartwatches are limited. You can only use them while resting.
2) No sign of them trying to get approval from Health Canada. You can change your location to the US, but I don't know if that will change in the future.

I just bought the Fitbit Sense about a week ago at Sports Check where I was told it has ECG capability and it was even showing it as such in their showcase....of course that is not the case and I was ready to return it but I like it a lot and decided to wait until ECG gets approved here too. It's disappointing though.

Hi everyone. It's great to see you participating in the forums and a warm welcome to our new members.
Let me explain that we currently don't have a time frame when the ECG App will be available in Canada. I understand how much you'd like to have this app available and my best recommendation is to keep an eye to our Help Forums or our Press Release for future updates about this or any other feature availability. Our team continuously works on our products and features to enhance your experience and our members feedback is a big part of that process. Be sure that your comments haven't gone unnoticed.
See you around.

My Fitbit sense is on the way. I’ll refuse the package and seek a refund.
It doesn’t make sense to pay full price for something without full features.
I’ll get an Apple Watch Series 6 instead.

I purchased 3 Fitbit Sense's (One for myself and 2 for Christmas gifts), primarily because of the ECG app. I was told by the Sports Check representatives that the ECG app were on them. Very disappointed to find out this feature is not available in Canada. Lesson learned by me, do your research before purchasing. Hoping Fitbit will come though and get this app in Canada ASAP.

Hi Lizzie, I appreciate your responses. Please include me as a Canadian owner of the Fitbit Sense and I am disappointed in not having access to the ecg app. I was also fooled by the advertising which showed the ecg app here in Canada.

It would be good to know if Fitbit has at least applied for licensing and if there is a projected timeline for approval. If Fitbit has any information on places we can check on the progress of the application. I can see many Canadian users leave Fitbit for Apple over this issue and other frustrations.

Hi @wgieni. Welcome to the Community Forums.
I understand where you're coming from about this situation, your feedback and insights are appreciated. Currently we don't have a time frame or further details about the process to get the ECG available in Canada or other countries. However, as mentioned above we'll make sure to post any future updates in the Help Forums or our Press Release so everyone can have that information on hand. Every feedback is always taken into consideration to improve our services, and yours won't be the exception.

The Apple iwatch ECG feature is not available in Canada either. So...I was disappointed twice...once when I bought the iWatch for my wife and now when I received the Sense for Christmas.
It's a Canada thing...stupid.

I just checked the Health Canada website and the Apple ECG app has been licensed for use since 2019 and it appears that the Fitbit App just was approved. Hopefully we will get an announcement from Fitbit soon 🙂

At what point would we be entitled to a refund due to unavailability of a selling feature? The ECG is a major selling point for this premium device. At CAD$450 + US$80/year, there's really no point in buying the Sense if the availability is "never" or "buy the Sense 2" when other devices at the same price point offer the ECG.

Also with American settings have you tried in the Fitbit phone App clicking on Discover [at the bottom] and going to Assessments and Reports?
