Any news about ECG app availability in Canada

My husband really wants the Fitbit sense or other smart watch with ECG capability in Canada for his birthday and Christmas combined. Is Canada going to get the ecg app or is buying him a sense a waste and should I just get him an Apple Watch?

So the license agreement says: "Device first issue date: 2020-12-24".  Anyone know if that means the license was actually issued?  Does it potentially mean we will be getting the ECG app soon in Canada?

@Mont-Sly At the current moment I think we are speculating that it means the ECG app will soon be available in Canada.  Based on the excellent post/discovery from  @wgieni (https://community.fitbit.com/t5/Sense/Any-news-about-ECG-app-availability-in-Canada/m-p/4636081/high... ) we can compare such date with the same entries from the Apple watch when it was announced that ECG was available in Canada.

Finger crosses. I hope that fitbit will be able to announce this officially as several customers said they have returned the device base on the fact that this was not yet available.

Hi everyone. Thanks for your continued participation in this thread.

I understand how much you'd like to use the ECG app. As mentioned above, currently there isn't a time frame when this app will be fully available in Canada. I'm sorry if this has caused you an inconvenience and let me share that our team is working hard to enhance your experience with the Sense. Once we have more details, we'll share it with you in our Help Forums and Press Release details.

@FB_Ray, about your question, Fitbit provides refunds to any order that was purchased from our Fitbit store and is within 45 days as described here. If your Fitbit was purchased from another retailer, I'd recommend getting in touch with them so they can provide you with more details about their refund policy.

Hope to see you around.

hi wgieni!  You have provided far more transparency into this matter than the FB people, so I am asking you directly.  Have you heard any update about when the ecg access will be coming to Can users?  If FB has regulatory approval from Health Canada,  then what is/are the next steps?  Is it possible that FB will never give access, i.e. on advice of their lawyers, etc. Or is the next step for FB to update their delivery software, i.e. open the gate?  It makes a big deal because if this is never going to happen, a lot of people will want to return their recent purchases.  Your help/assessment is greatly appreciated, Eric

The Apple Watch 4 received ECG clearance on May 19, 2019. The app and os was updated to allow ECG in Canada on July 22, 2019. So, let's hope Fitbit takes less than 60 days to update their OS and app. There will be no returnable devices in 60 days unless purchased from Costco.

Unfortunately only FitBit can answer many of those questions. I also noticed on the Health Canada site that Apple also has a related license for notification of irregular heart rhythm which maybe Fitbit is waiting for a similar approval.

Great news!  So I guess we are now waiting for Fitbit to make the ECG app available.  What's the word, Fitbit staff?

Hi everyone and welcome to our new members.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts about your Sense. As mentioned above, currently we don't have a time frame or further details when the ECG will be available in Canada or other countries. But as soon as we have details, we'll share the updates in the Help Forums and our Press Release. I understand your point of view and be sure that your feedback won't go unnoticed.

Have a good day.

Hi Lizzy, just a quick question about the ecg. How many leads does it have?

The watch goes on your arm then you use the opposite hand with your thumb on one corner and your pointer finger on the other corner. You do this for 30 seconds then it analyzes your data and tells you if it’s normal or not.

I hope soon enough. I bought this watch only because it had ECG built in it and that turned out not to be the case. I am quite frustrated because I paid over $400 for it yet it came without the features it claimed to have already. That is false advertisement

I felt the same way. Fortunately there is a very simple way to access the
ecg feature. It is explained by Mark from BC on the user forum

Could you put a link to this explanation please? I cannot find it

I hope so soon, because that's the only reason I bought this watch, otherwise I would have paid an extra 100 dollars and gotten the Apple watch.

Also my premium trial will expire.

Very frustrating 😤😠😤

Thank you for both doing AND sharing this research with us! Really appreciated!!!

I did look on Fitbit’s site and they have updated the list of countries and Canada is back on the list as coming soon! So hoping to see an announcement soon. Maybe something cheesy around Valentine’s Day if not before.

Thank you for letting me know. I am looking forward to this app being
available. Does anyone know if this will be a free addition or will we have
to purchase it or go to a premium membership?
