Any way for Sense to automatically silence notifications when sleeping?

I just got the new Sense for Christmas and so far, no issues at all except 1.  My old Ionic, which I had for 3 years would automatically silence notifications so the watch wouldn't vibrate when it detected I was asleep and I can't find any setting on the Sense to do that.  I know there is a Sleep Mode you can manually turn on and off but that definitely seems like a step backwards rather than the watch just knowing I'm asleep or awake and adjusting accordingly.  I do have my phone set to Do Not Disturb between 10am and 8am and have now turned off the Always Vibrate setting in the Fitbit app but now, if I had an alarm set on my watch for say 7am, would this notification/vibration not come through to wake me up then?  Long time Fitbit user so I generally can figure this stuff out myself but I am getting mighty tired being woke up by over zealous friends IM'ing or texting me at 6 or 7am!  😴  Thanks for your help!

Hi,

I am not an expert on notifications handling, but have you tried setting an automatic sleep mode in the watch from your watch settings->quiet modes->schedule mode ?

This should prevent any IM/texting message in the time zone you have set.

Could that resolve (partially) what you are targeting to achieve?

@lemayp  YES, that's it!  Thank you so much!  There is a specific setting buried in there that says "Sleep Mode - Mute notifications and calls and display won't disrupt sleep."  That's exactly what I was looking for and it was in the menu you said - Settings on the watch, Quiet Modes, then Sleep Mode.

Hi @CMichelle - I totally understand about “zealous” friends. You can set up an automatic sleep schedule. Tap here for instructions. But to answer your question about alarms, no need to worry. Also having a couple friends (who shall remain nameless) who have no concept of time, I place my phone in DND mode every night so even that will not vibrate or react. Alarms still come thru to wake me up on time.

Wishing you a happy new year!

@Carol Thanks so much for the tip.  I guess I over estimated that Sleep Mode function I found and thought it would enable automatic detecting but sadly, it's just another form of the manual on/off for Sleep Mode.  I did as you suggested and set a sleep schedule under the setting instead - we will see if that fixes my issue. Thanks for the information!

I work shift and i unable to set a fix schedule to turn on the quiet mode. I used to use amazfit X before fitbit and they have this automatic mode to detect when I sleep and turn on quiet mode and turn off when I wake up. hope fitbit can include this feature when update.

So sorry to hear of this, @JYGoh - Which phone do you have? I have an iPhone and find that it I put that on Do Not Disturb mode, it will not send any notifications to my phone. The Android phones probably have the same capability. Yes, you have to set it yourself … then remember to turn it back off. But it may be a small price to pay for a good sleep. It would still be nice if Fitbit could do something automatically for shift workers like you but this may be something to try for now.
