Anyone else's heart rate WAY OFF during exercise?

I have had an Ionic for years, and I've gone through many cycles of it failing, and getting a refurb, then that one failing, getting another refurb, etc. Obviously the product has some serious defects, but Fitbit has stood behind it in impressive fashion, in my opinion.

So I thought I would take a chance on the sense. I like the features, and consider it a good value for the features it has. However, I have found that while on my elliptical at nearly full resistance, the heart rate monitor is way off.

With my Ionic, I would get readings in the 150's to 170, which tracked very well with my chest band. Even so well, that I quit wearing the chest band.

With my Sense, while working out, it never goes above 110, then it falls back into the 80's. After I stop working out, the heart rate actually goes up, into the 130's, and then appears to track correctly. I have tried wearing it loose, and tight, and it makes no difference. Obviously, this makes the device unusable. I did contact support, and they had me do a reset, and re-download the firmware, but come on, we knew that wouldn't work, which it did not.

They gave me a reference number, and I will be getting back in touch with them on Monday.

So I'm just checking to see if anyone else has seen this with their new sense, as I have not seen anyone post this in this forum. Kind of hard to imagine what could be defective that would only cause this issue, only while exercising.

Here is what solved it for me. I unregistered Sense from Fitbit app, the I have made a Sense reboot and then i registered again to Fitbit app a it works awesome. Heartbeat is now super accurate during my workout and weight lifting.

The problem is, that you have to do mostly more then one reboot. I did four. So between reboots I was doing air squats in order to see accuracy. :-)))

I'm happy it works now the way it should.

I also tried restarting and then unregistering and reregistering my Sense on the Fitbit app yesterday, and my heartrate seems more accurate with my workout now!

I will give it a few more days/workouts, but here’s hoping that that was the fix. (Or that they release a software/firmware update for this issue. 🤞🏻)

I have just posted a topic called: Sense HR issues resolved ☺️

Which has a possibly fix for this issue. It helped me...

Hope that holds for you. I did the same, including a factory reset, reinstallation of the firmware update, etc., and no luck. It reads fine when I am at rest, but that's where it ends. Pushing like crazy at the gym, I could barely crack 110, and average HR for workout that's typically north of 120 came in at 97. Then I'm walking home, and it's reading 140. Baffled.

I bought mine today and it did an update as soon as I started connecting but will know tomorrow when I take it for a run!

I tried the reboots & factory reset.  Way off from my Charge 4.  I'm glad I bought mine on Amazon so I was able to return it today (getting the new Apple Watch instead).  I really like the Fitbit app and ecosystem too; it's a big disappointment.  At this price point there shouldn't be basic issues like this.

Same problem and is annoying to see that this has been going on since last year. Hope a SW/FM update will fix it soon.

Mine goes up to about 160bpm but once I get above that it suddenly drops down to 114 or so and continues up from there as my heart rate goes up.

Incredibly frustrating.

As a test today I briefly got my hr up to 200bpm and sure enough the Fitbit read around 150.

Why does it just suddenly decide to subtract 50??

Why can't they just fix this issue already?
