Can I completely turn off SmartTrack on Sense?

I've set automatic exercise tracking for all the exercises listed, however, Treadmill type is not available as one of them.  Unfortunately, now my Fitbit Sense starts an automatic tracking for Treadmill all on its own anyway, and I don't know how to stop it from doing that.  Is there a way to just turn off automatic tracking no matter the type of exercise? I'd like to have control of that myself.  This used to much easier in my Fitbit Ionic before I had to send it back due to the recall.

Hi there, @sa4720k@JohnnyRow Thanks for stopping by to help our member.

@sa4720k Thanks for the detailed information, and the steps tried prior to posting. I'm sorry you're having this experience with your Sense. This is odd and just to confirm, do you recall if you were exercising at the same time Treadmill was recorded? Also, could you check if Treadmill is set as a button shortcut? I'm asking this as sometimes when doing activities that require you to move your wrist a lot, the button might unintentionally be pressed and a shortcut might get activated by mistake.

To check this, please review this help article under Sense and Versa 3 > Use button shortcuts. Additionally, try wearing your watch higher on your wrist to avoid hitting the button.

If this isn't the case or if the issue persists after trying those steps, please let me know so I can continue helping you with this matter.

do you really mean you have set auto tracking for all?  Sounds like you want just the opposite, which makes it hard to answer.

But  go to the Exercise App on wrist on Run, scroll up from the little arrow at the bottom and look for Run Detect.

Before posting, re-read to see if it would make sense to someone else not looking at your Fitbit or phone.

Thanks for your reply. No, I haven't set auto tracking for all (at least I don't think I have).  It seems to be a default. In the Fitbit app on my Android phone I selected "Activity & Wellness" then "Exercise" and I was presented with a list of "Auto recognized Exercises".  "Treadmill" is not one of them, but on the rest you can click and then choose "ignore".  I've done this for all of them (including "Run").  However, the Fitbit now seems to automatically choose "Treadmill" and automatically start that one.  But since Treadmill is not one of the options I can set to "ignore" I don't know what to do.

I know you are on the treadmill, but does it actually log the workout as "Treadmill"?

Yes, it logs ANY activity as "Treadmill".  When I go into the Fitbit App it is logged there as a "Treadmill" activity.  I just want to make it so that NO activity is automatically detected.  I want to select the activity myself when I chose to perform that activity.  Is this even possible?  I could do this with my Fitbit Ionic, I don't understand why it's become so difficult in the new Fitbit Sense.

I don't see an activity and wellness tab. I see an activity and a wellness.

Tap your activity then the settings cog. 'you will notice that treadmill is not an auto detectable event. Which may be why it can not be turned off. And why we are a little confused.

Hello,

Thank you for your response.  It seems that I did have a shortcut for Treadmill set on my Fitbit Sense and somehow it was being triggered by the position of my wrist, and since my wrist movements are more active during exercise it was being triggered to run which to me seemed like an automatic functionality.  Now that I've turned off the shortcut the treadmill activity doesn't turn on.  Thanks again!
