Hey. I was wondering if there is a way to download music onto the Fitbit sense. Thanks!

There's not an option to download your own music (as there was with previous fitbit models) and the only option is to download from Deezer or Pandora. See:

Unfortunately not. Why FitBit took that option away from a very expensive Smart watch is beyond me.

Up vote this and hopefully they might think again

What?  I just bought a Versa 2 when they announced the Sense I was a bit miffed, but fine. I didn't even look to see if the Sense had the feature I wanted most, offline music storage.  So I returned my Versa 2 and got the Sense.  But now I see that it doesn't do the most basic thing I really wanted it to do?  Seriously?  I've been with Fitbit for years, but this makes me want to drop the brand, that their top of the line watch doesn't do the most basic thing.  Certainly going to go look up the return policy now.  $300+ for no music is stupid.

And no, Pandora or wtfever that other is one does not count as music for me. I buy the music I want to listen to and download it.

Yeah it’s ridiculous. I have to get a premium subscription to Deezer or pandora to download music. Might return it and get an Apple Watch for less money.

I agree. I'm extremely disappointed to find out after upgrading from a Versa 1 that my new expensive Sense FITNESS watch doesn't allow me to play my own music. The one thing I need to work out and be Fit was removed!

Is there a thread/link to complain/request with others for this feature?

Apple is looking better and better.

Agreed, this is frustrating, and to use Deezer or Pandora is not user friendly...  My recommendation is don't buy this intending to use it for music.  It is a great smart watch I love it..  But, I am usually cursing Fitbit every time I go for a run and have to carry my phone with me because Fitbit CHOOSES to not support music in a way that a consumers can use it.  If listening to music from your watch is a key buy criteria - do not get the Fitbit Sense...

One year later and they've still not fixed this!

They've still not fixed this, did you ever find a link to complain /petition fitbit to sort this disgrace out?

Some people have mad some votes. I believe there’s one in my thread here.

I think it's impossible for Fitbit to "fix" it because they must have had agreements with Deezer and Pandora. And this brings them revenues.

This is EXTREMELY disappointing and if I had know this I would have stayed with my Fitbit Ionic.   It's absolutely unacceptable to remove a feature that is, obviously, possible, but, because it's free, no longer supported.   Are there any custom apps available for download?

Best Answer

@SlowKenAtl  - the only other option which is free is to use your Music controls function (double button press generally) which can control any music you can play on the phone.

This has the advantage of not having to stop the current clock or app you're using to control the music.

The problem of not being able to load music on a Sense or Versa 3 may be contractual or may be due to there being no decoder hardware/software on board able to play it.

Whether it was a design consideration or economy of hardware or lack of driver or simply a way to make the battery last longer or lack of space inside the case, is not sure.

But generally a disappointment for those upgrading to a flagship model.

You can download music to it from pandora, Spotify, or Deezer but you need a paid membership. That’s the annoying part. No longer can you download your own music onto it unless you have a paid membership.

@SeanBremer  - Spotify premium does not allow you to download music to your watch, only your phone.

And Pandora is limited to the US only.

@Guy_   Pandora is the streaming service that is US only, not Deezer.  Help article  You also commented in this, and other, threads about the Music Control feature.  That requires your phone and these uses want to exercise without their phones.

YES exactly!  and Deezer has like 2% of the market - what good is that?  This is just poor on fitbit!  They will be the way of the Blackberry soon...  Failure to meet market expectations!  They will soon be in the tail just like Deezer and Pandora!

Best Answer

@LZeeW  -  thanks for the correction.

The thing with specific music apps [as opposed to Music controls] is you have to stop your exercise, clock or other app in order to use them which is not what users presumably want to have to do.

So if you are doing indoor exercising your phone can be nearby and Music controls is a good solution.

Only if you are out and don't have the phone with you is it a problem, forcing you to stop the exercise in order to operate the music, presumably not what users want. It only works when need any specific apps or clocks top be running other than music.

I am pretty angry about it and regretting my purchase.

Best Answer

Agreed, surprised there hasn't been any noise on social media to bring light/pressure the issue. FitBit should reconsider very soon. I returned my Ionic due to recall and will use the refund on an Apple product unfortunately.
