why for such a tech smart watch is there no real time gps data available for this device ? Is there anyway to improve this because it looks like garmin and apple are way ahead of the game

Our team strives to improve the Fitbit experience with our products and services, and the feedback we received from our members is a big part of that process. While this isn't possible at the moment, I'd encourage you to check this idea posted in the Feature Suggestions board and support it by adding your vote. The more votes an idea receives, the better chance it has of getting the attention of the developers.
