Can't add a card to Fitbit Pay Wallet

Worked with support for ~ an hour before they gave up. Tried all manner of things:

- clearing cache of both the fitbit app and my phone's browser (chrome) and force stopping the fitbit app

- removing and re-adding sense to my fitbit profile

- uninstalling and reinstalling fitbit app

- factory resetting my sense

- at one point they recommended changing my phone pin setup to use numbers instead of a pattern - didn't try this but I'm extremely skeptical there's any relation there whatsoever

 

The furthest I got in the process was adding in card information and logging into my bank (American Express). However, the card never showed up on my end (though the support person said they could see I had added one) either in the app or on the sense itself. After adding it and clicking fitbit wallet in the app, the fitbit app would crash, at which point the support person told me to try again in 15 minutes. Super frustrating because I've used this feature in the past and it's nice to go on long runs/bike rides and not worry about having to carry a card if I wanted to stop and get some water or food.

Oh that sounds sooo frustrating @Derekma73 . I have no idea what is going wrong, but just to let you know that I use a pattern on my phone and that didn't stop me setting up my card. I agree it is wonderful to have your card on your wrist!

I have the same issue with amex abd and what sucks is that i have to remove device and re add it everytime i want to try to add it. 

I tried adding from a different bank it worked perfectly !! It took me to the verification page i put the number i received via text and im good.  tried adding again my amex again it did not land me to any verification page and now everytime i press wallet it just exits with no error . 

 

It seems like they have a verification problem with amex , i remember when i first bought the watch last year i also had a different problem with amex , back then i was able to connect the amex card with fitbit pay but it didn't work at any store it just got declined everytime...3 months later i received and email I don't remember if it was from fitbit or amex saying they had a problem with amex cards not processing payment and they apologized for the inconveniences.

Hi @Derekma73, I have had the same problem with my credit card (Visa). After changing my Fitbit for a new one (service) I wasn't able add my card anymore. After the same struggle you had, the support rep of my credit card company found out I had to much 'subscription tokens' on my card. Every time you add your credit card as a payment option (PayPal, Android Playstore etc) you use a token (max 8). So after changing the payment option for one of my android apps from credit card to PayPal I could add my card to Fitbit pay again.

 

Confusing story but you can always check with your credit card company if they have the same restrictions.

I contacted Amex to manually verify the card to be used on my Sense, they did and it's the only device it's linked to.

I really think it's a problem between fitbit and amex syncing information between each other because that's when the app crashes.
