I've been a long time fitbit customer and I have to say I feel like these bands get worse and worse by the year. In 5 years i've probably bought 4, which tells you the shelf life is practically a year tops. For how expensive they are, you would think the product would improve. One thing i've noticed that I feel like could be affecting how long they last is the sensor never seems to turn off. Even if I set it down on the surface the light stays green like it's trying to read my wrist. I adjust it and to no avail whatever object or surface is in it's way it stays lit up. I think i'm going to have to cut ties because i'm going through them like hot cakes. This used to be my favorite fitness tracker for what it offers especially on the app but I can't keep burning through them just to buy another one the following year.

Can you shut it down while not in use?
