I noticed that after waking up i put my sense aside for next couple of hours and then when i wear it and refresh it, it shows me those 2 extra hours of sleep (which i never had) also included in my data. Then i tested keeping it aside for whole 7 hours from morning to evening and it showed me that i slept all that time. Ridiculous and funny, lol felt its just bogus. Now, wanted to check other activity data, my active zone minutes were 1 when i kept the watch aside and now its shows 12 , and my resting heart beat as 73 (in the app). What is fibit doing? Well i did factory reset and tried everything again and the same results are recorded. Is it just with my fitbit sense or all those smart watches are working like that?

Hi @gobram , I appreciate your efforts to solve the situation with the sleep record.
When you place your sense on the table is something behind it or near the LED? Sometimes if the watch detects something on the heart rate sensor it activates the watch as it recognizes that it's being worn. As it cannot detect any heart rate it will record show your resting hear trate and will start the sleep record.
If you are not going to use the watch, we recommend you to turn it off. How do I turn off my Fitbit device?
Let me know if you have further questions.

i dont think that is the issue. As i was a charge user for 2 years which also had sleep tracker, never did that kind of thing. It showed me exact readings, when i keep it aside it never took that time as sleep time. Also i keep the sense side ways, by which the band comes behind the sensors. I have also used galaxy smart watch which also when i kept aside never tracked anything, it would be just idle. If you are saying that i need to switch off when not in use, then i think fitbit has some serious issues which needs to be fixed. They cannot expect the users to be operators. Right now my sleep time reading on app is 11 hrs, but i slept for only 6 hours lol...

I had a similar experience when i place my watch near a reflective surface (plastic) and noticed the green light on the sensor kept flashing. On the times when there were no reflective surface, the green light would stop flashing and no data was being collected. I then started to ensure that my sense were kept far from reflective surfaces for the green LED to stop flashing and not gather any data.
I agree with you that users are not expected to be operators, thought I'd share my experience with data being recorded while not wearing the watch and how I cope with it.

As i said, i just keep it on table with nothing behind it to sense or reflect. Not sure if it takes something as far as 1 feet. However i still feel something is messed up here atleast in my sense. How can a watch which claim to detect skin temperature, heart beat, cannot detect that it is not on my skin. Thats insane. I just opened a ticket with fitbit and waiting for their response.

Hi @SunsetRunner , nice to see you around. Thank you for sharing your experiences and your feedback.
Hi @gobram , thank you for your reply and enhancement of the situation. As you already contacted Support, I'd advice you to work with them They'll be able to verify more data than I do.
Please let us know how it goes

This issue is affecting me too, and I wonder if you've been provided a solution by Support?

No, i have come across the worst customer service in my lifetime. its been 3 weeks i opened a ticket and after 2 weeks they come back and say that the placing it in wrong way causes that which is totally ridiculous, as i have used charge 3, inspire HR and also samsung galaxy watch which detected mostly if not worn. However i bought another sense and tried that and it works perfectly, when i remove from my wrist the sensors stop. I am clearly saying to them that the device is fault and malfunctioning. But they don't even respond, they just ignore and when i try calling them they say they dont have any update. They have to replace the device, its as simple ax that, i even offered to send the video comparing the two sense watches i have showing how one works perfectly when removed from wrist and another doesn't. But all vain, no response from fitbit.

I’m having the same issue. When I am not wearing the Sense, I put it sideways and it tracks sleep during this time. The only way it doesn’t is if it’s facedown, but who wants to put their watch face down and risk scratching it? It shouldn’t be tracking heartbeat when it’s off your wrist and it shouldn’t track sleep without a heartbeat.

Right, i think there is no fix for it. They will have to fix it in the next version. Who ever has bought the first gen sense have to live with it, by buying some screen protectors and keeping it face down. I think the QE team did not do the QC appropriately. This is a ridiculous flaw. I checked with many other smart watch users (other brands) , no one has complained this kind of behavior.
