FitBit Sense not functioning after app update

My FitBit app on iPhone updated overnight last night. Since syncing my FitBit sense after getting up I am having a number of issues.
1. My sense will no longer sync.
2. The Clockface is no longer being displayed.
3. Several of the apps on my Sense no longer open. They start to open then eventually just close.
4. I can't power off my sense. Holding the side button does nothing even after holding it long enough to trigger the vibration.

At this point my sense is no longer usable. I think my only option at this point is to let the battery die on its own and see if a complete power drain does anything for me.
