Fitbit Sense Treadmill tracking is not close to actual mileage as per treadmill

After a 3rd online chat with tech support (this last one about 10 minutes ago was abruptly end by the support tech), I am certain there is an internal issue with the algorithm regarding the treadmill exercise function.

I know my stride length is correct because when I walk outside mileage is accurate.

However, when walking on treadmill the differences between the treadmill distance and my Sense has been consistently off by .75 to slightly over 1.0 miles depending on the length of the exercise.

I could understand if the distances were off by 5 or even 10%, I would say thats not great yet could be acceptable.

However, for a 3.18 mile walk on the treadmill, my Sense shows 2.12 miles, the calculation is off by roughly 30%. Which also means the steps are off by about 2,500.

Has anyone found a way to resolve this? All tech support tells me is thats how the device works.

Are you holding hand rail with fitbit wrist at all?  If so, that is reducing your step count, and therefore your distance.

Before posting, re-read to see if it would make sense to someone else not looking at your Fitbit or phone.

Hello Johnny,

Not holding the rail at all, arms are moving constantly.
I am usually between 3.8 and 4.0 mph on the treadmill, a pretty intense
workout.
