Fitbit Sense counting steps whilst cycling

Can someone help or clarify

I have a question about how my device records my steps and activity. I cycle a lot for sport (fondos and racing) and have noticed that when I'm riding the fitbit is also recording steps taken (significantly so), is this doubling the activity recorded and will it effect the accuracy of the data collected? Especially where calorie count is concerned?

Steps are caused by bumpy ride and they are kind of side-effect as Fitbit doesn't turn off steps recognition for non-steps activities. It won't affect calories. This is calculated using heart rate. The behaviour of false steps is done by design so all Fitbits do it.
