Fitbit Sense inaccurate swimming laps

Hello,

Since last week I've my new Fitbit Sense watchs mainly used for swimming.

However each time I go for swimming (in a pool of 50m) I notice several issues with the watch

Automatic counting laps is enabled after each 50m

  1. When I swim some laps (always freestyle) and I stop my session by pressing left 'button' it's not always reacting. Mostly it's still counting which means I'm doing longer over my swim session so data is inaccurate. How do you correctly stop your swim session ? One click or double click ?
For me it's important to track my swimming time
  2. Each time I stop the session there is an additional lap counted on the watch.
E.g. when I swim 2 laps there are 3 laps counted and the 3th lap has a swimming time of 0:00
    1. when checking the fitbit app on my Iphone the additional laps are not visible anymore
  3. There are sometimes inaccurate swimming times logged
E.g. it only timed 8 seconds for a 50 meter session ?? This happened multiple times

Can someone help me with these questions / issues ?

Thank you in advance!

Hi, @AZ92, welcome to the community, you may find this article of interest How do I track my swims with my Fitbit device?

In answer to your questions.

  1. Double click the side sensors when recording a swim and you are presented with "End" and "Resume" icons on the watch face. Bear in mind in wet conditions you need to pay close attention to accurately touch the icon you want.
  2. I swim in a 25-metre pool, when you turn at an end there is a slight delay until the last length is added to the total. The first count you see momentarily are the completed lengths not including the one you have just completed, a second twist of your wrist will display the completed total correctly.
  3. I must admit I do not pay attention to my lap times. While swimming I'm just concentrating on completing the right number of lengths. Once home I see the pace, total time, energy & impact. I wonder if the discrepancy you see is related to (2) Try taking a second look at the time to see if the result is more accurate and different. I'm sorry this bit is not much help.

Enjoy your swimming.

Cheers

Hi @Gr4ndp4 thanks for your help and feedback!

  1. I always double click the side sensor to end my session but it's not always reacting as it should. So sometimes it's just keeps counting which means I'm doing longer over my last lap...
  2. OK
  3. For me it's important how much it took for each lap as I want to improve my length time. So if this is not working correctly than I'm afraid I have the bought the wrong watch ☹️

Hi, @AZ92, thanks for your feedback.

  1. I'm not particularly dexterous and frequently find I need to press the side sensors (twice) more than once to get the desired screen. This may not be helped by the water lock being engaged and the device being wet.
  2. Good.
  3. Have a look at the display settings at the "Swim" exercise, after touching "Swim" you will see a little white chevron under the start icon at the bottom of the screen. Swipe up and look at the settings available, one is "pace" as opposed to "Average pace" is this the stat you are looking for? If you set the middle stat as "pace" you will get a large visible count. (the upper & lower stats are much smaller)

Cheers
