Fitbit sense recording high heart rate as exercise

I not so recently got my 1st smartwatch --a fitbit sense As another way to help monitor my high heart rate and I've found that instead of giving me any alerts or notifications when my heart rate is high that it will record it as exercise such as outdoor bike ride. When I'm in the shower it thinks that I am swimming and I'm just wondering if anyone else has had this issue and if there's a way to correct it?

I've also made sure that I have the notifications for high and low heart rate set to on but I have not gotten any notifications and I know for a fact that my heart has made it up to 160BPM since purchasing and wearing this watch.

(I'm completely aware it's not  A replacement to a heart monitor--which I do have. I wear it as an added precaution and a way to better monitor my health)

me too I’m having erratic jumps doubling my heart rate while at REST! Is this an arrhythmia like PSVT OR A-Fib or a faulty HR sensor!!

Linsey I’m also getting high HR  heart rate spikes at rest . If I these  high HR rates/spikes  FITBIT is displaying is not detected  by your doctors  more accurate holster or heart monitor , the watch IS the problem not your heart. Get a BP MACHINE and when you see it go high on the Fitbit  and stay up there long enough , take your blood  pressure and it will display a more precise HR and if it is not as high as the Fitbit HR readings . It’s simply has a faulty and unreliable HR sensor!!

A fingertip pulse oximeter is faster and easier than a blood pressure machine, keeping in mind the spO2 can be inaccurate on darker skin tones.

If you have Long COVID, your heart rate may actually be jumping around like crazy when you're not exercising. I have a Versa 2 and was considering upgrading to a Sense, but I didn't have any problems with it yet. I use the Lily's Heart app as an alarm for elevated heart rate while standing. My spikes were accurate as confirmed by my pulse ox. So with so many people having had COVID, and the weird things it can make you do, don't write it off as an equipment error before checking it out, even by just feeling your pulse manually.

If it's the device jumping around, the latest update might help stop that. Because while it didn't brick mine, it's messed up the heart rate sensor's responsiveness. It takes longer to respond to heart rate increases on standing than my pulse ox and a bargain smartwatch now. It even took me going "Hmm, something looks off", opening Lily's Heart, and using the stopwatch to count my heartbeats, getting not a full 10 seconds before my HR updated to reflect what I'd already counted. So this might be an unintended consequence of a HR sensor fix for different models?

I've decided against the Sense now that I don't feel I can trust it for what I need it to do, thinking of trying Garmin. 😞

I know I’m super late to this discussion, but that’s exactly what happens to me. I have anxiety and sometimes it makes my heart rate soar. I had an important doctor’s appointment yesterday and it recorded 90+ zone minutes while I was just sitting still. I don’t think those 90 minutes were good for my heart, so I wish it wouldn’t record it!
