Google Assistant won't stay connected to my Sense

Good afternoon My problem is for some reason with no changes made to the phone or the app My sense regularly loses connection with the Google Assistant.

I can connect it within the app and it will do my reminders I can ask it questions but after a short time no more than 30 minutes The function will no longer be available. The watch will give the status that something went wrong and it may work if you try again.

Obviously it doesn't work.

I have reset the phone, reset the app , reset the watch. All permissions are as they should be and Bluetooth is functioning just fine. I'm not sure what's going on and what is causing the issue.

I continue to get other notifications messages and calendar events with no issue it's only trying to use the Google Assistant on the sense where I have this issue.

Please advise as this is a key function for me.

Hi @Easthdood  - do you have a Sense 2 as that watch does not have Google Assistant, only Alexa?

If it is a Sense the most likely issue is a syncing problem due to battery saving on the phone stopping the Fitbit App or associated services running in background.

That's it is a regular sense. Not a sense 2.

Didn't know they removed it for the sense 2. That's a silly idea.

All the optimization looks to be accurate.

I'll keep trying here .

Hi guy,

I took am having this exact same behavior on my Fitbit sense gen 1. I specifically got this device for it's assistant integration and in the last couple days I've noticed it constantly disconnecting and today I can't seem to reconnect it at all. I have verified my battery usage for the Fitbit is set to unrestricted on my Android.

As stated in the title my Fitbit sense is no longer staying connected to my assistant. I have noticed in the last couple days it keeps disconnecting and today after reconnecting and have it say it was successful it immediately disconnects again. I have verified on my Android battery usage is set to unlimited and both devices have plenty of battery life.

One of the main reasons I purchased the sens was for assistant integration and it is a feature I use all the time. I have tried reconnecting sense controls multiple times and nothing seems to be fixing the issue.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Hello @Easthdood, I think you might be mistaken, as the Sense 2 does not have Google Assistant and only has Alexa Built-In. Do you mean the Sense?

Best Answer

I have a regular sense not a sense 2 I spoke in error. @Fitterfitter and I have the same issue

Best Answer

Same here.

I have a sense and my wife has a versa 3 and both are constantly disconnecting.

Several times a day.

There must be a solution.

Best Answer

I am having the same issue and have not heard from Fitbit on this

@MarreFitbit do you have any insight here?

Best Answer

Same here, google assistant works for awhile then disconnects.  When you attempt to reconnect the assistant it goes through the steps and says it is ready; but doesn't actually reconnect. Syncing immediately prior to reconnecting the assistant seems to allow it to actually reconnect, until it eventually and inevitably disconnects again.

My suggestion for anyone reading this.

Hop in the live chat and tell them,

Send an email explaining this.

My conversation with the Chat went down with this info

_Fitbit knows about this issue.
They don't have a solution or a timeline.

Idk about you but I'm really tired of fitbit products randomly stop working. They are great when they work but this isn't the first time where I've had a unit have a critical feature just stop working with no explanation.

Anyone else having this issue? I'm having to reconnect Google Assistant to my Sense via the App every day as if it were never connected to my Google Assistant account.

Anyone else having this issue?

Yep same exact problem. My wife has the same issue, were both on Google pixel 5's with the latest updates on both phone and watch.

Same issue, stopped working few days back.

Update: Looks like it was auto disconnected, started working after I reenabled assistant from the Fitbit app.

Hi, am having the same issue with my Fitbit Sense. Has only started happening in the past 4-5 weeks. Google assistant keeps disconnecting from my Sense or vice versa. Despite reconnecting, it will only stay connected for about 30 mins. I have had my Sense for 2+ yrs and have always had Google assistant connected. Use a Pixel 5 and have never had this issue. Have checked the Fitbit app settings and ensured there are no battery settings that might disconnect it. Was going to try connecting to Alexa instead of Google to see if it happens with Alexa, but my home IOT devices have all been setup on Google. Would take a bit of work to set them all up again on Alexa. Extremely frustrating. Not sure if a Fitbit app update has caused this or not. Really disappointed, thought that with Google buying Fitbit there would be more integrations and less issues. Seems the exact opposite, and now Sense 2 doesn't even support Google Assistant. What a joke.

I have had the same problem for a week now, with my versa 3 and my girlfriends. Have tried everything. Am now using alexa...

Keep posting everyone. Fitbit knows if this issue but isn't saying anything.

Make more noise. I refuse to be quiet and allow my device to put into planned obsolescence. This is unfair

It says Alexa is not availeble in my region.

For the last month or so, my Fitbit and voice assist w/ Google keeps disconnecting. I have reset the watch and phone several times. I have also ensured that the apps are running by even leaving both apps active. Yet, for some reason, daily at least, the two disconnect from each other and I have go into the phone app and re-activate Google Assistant. For months prior, I never even had to think about this, but now it is starting to get VERY annoying.

I have a Samsung Galaxy 22+.
