Google Assistant won't stay connected to my Sense

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Good afternoon My problem is for some reason with no changes made to the phone or the app My sense regularly loses connection with the Google Assistant.

I can connect it within the app and it will do my reminders I can ask it questions but after a short time no more than 30 minutes The function will no longer be available. The watch will give the status that something went wrong and it may work if you try again.

Obviously it doesn't work.

I have reset the phone, reset the app , reset the watch. All permissions are as they should be and Bluetooth is functioning just fine. I'm not sure what's going on and what is causing the issue.

I continue to get other notifications messages and calendar events with no issue it's only trying to use the Google Assistant on the sense where I have this issue.

Please advise as this is a key function for me.

Hi @bcv1306  - in the meantime for short timers try the free Simple4Timer app, it remembers previous timers and has loads more features. It can be moved to the first position of the watch app screens or assigned to double press instead.

For longer timers try in conjunction with the free SimpleClockPro clock face, double tap seconds to get to remembered timers (with auto start enabled, timer starts immediately). Double tap timer to get back to clock face.

Sadly enough this answer makes total sense.
Seeing that they abandoned it in Sense 2 means they're fed up with burning
hours and cash debugging issues caused by Google changing things every few
months.

I have the same problem on my Versa 3, running v36.128.6.17 with Samsung Galaxy S23+
Google Assistant keeps disconnecting from Versa 3, Google Assistant on phone works just fine.
Both Fitbit and Google assistant are running in background, without battery optimization + Adaptive Battery disabled.
The issue must be Fitbit.

So I found a fix that's working so far on Android.

Go to settings then battery then adaptive preferences then turn off adaptive battery.

The only time I lost connection was when I restarted my phone. And as soon as I opened the Fitbit app it started working again.

Hopefully that helps.

Thank you! This worked for me!

*Edit*

Darn. Spoke too soon. It disconnected. It seemed to work for a solid 6 hours before it disconnected though.

Switching off adaptive battery helped in so far, that the connection stayed
longer than 30m active. but still broke within 24h.

As far as I can tell this is a google assistant issue, which doesn't entirely come as a surprise. This this is not my first google product to suffer ongoing connectivity issues. On the bright side, they can't possibly handle it any more poorly then the first Gen Nest (zero fix to date).

I tried this but it broke within 12 hours.

Any update on this?

I have the versa 3 and my Google assistant won't stay connected either. Very frustrating.

That's fine but this is not a best answer. As of today nothing has been solved.

We don't have a timeline either on when this is expected to be fixed. So I'm not sure why your response is marked as a "best answer"

It's not solved and doesn't answer what caused the problem is or provides a workable solution in the interim.

FWIW, Google Play Store just pushed a Fitbit update to me that updates the app from version 3.80 to version 3.81.  It has only been about 30 minutes since I installed the update. So far, there have been no bluetooth disconnections and Google assistant hasn't disconnected since installing the update.  Fingers crossed that this is the solution we've been waiting for.  Time will tell.

Edited to add:  Syncing also seems smoother and more stable after the update as well.

Awesome. thank you for sharing. I'll update and report back in a few hours.

@Easthdood, @bumbleklutz - Android 3.81 was released April 16th and is not the solution, there is supposed to be a new release today but it takes a while to propagate and there is no guarantee it will even resolve it.

3.81 update seems to be working for me. This is the longest I've kept connectivity with Google Assistant. I also removed and then reinstalled Google Assistant after the update. Fingers crossed.

I just updated the app as well. We will see how this all plays out. Hopefully it will come to fruition and solve this running problem FitBit/Google has had for several months.

HI everyone.

Thanks for getting back and sharing the steps you've tried so far. While I'm glad this feature is working for some of you, I understand this isn't the case for all of you.

If you haven't done so, please make sure to update the Fitbit app, reboot your phone and use this voice assistant one more time to see how it goes.

So it worked for about 4 hours but then the assistant was no longer connected.

Resetting and giving it another go.

Just checked my GA and it was disconnected again. The recent patch DID NOT work. OK FitBit, let's figure out a solution. What can the community do to help you identify the problem? Have any of you folks see this problem?

Best Answer

Yes after a couple of hours of connectivity to GA following the update it is now also disconnecting for me again.
