How to Auto Sync and Keep Syncing

Ever since Google took over FitBit, it's gone downhill, IMO.

Here's one of my biggest gripes, and maybe there is a way to fix this:
In the past, as soon as you opened the app, it synced.

Now, if you open the app, it doesn't automatically refresh.  I have to manually pull down on the screen to force a sync.  I've tried to patiently "wait" and see, but my screen lock happens after 30 seconds and it never does.

Even worse, I don't like how while the app is open and I'm walking, it won't sync in real-time.  It used to ALWAYS do this.   For example, if I'm walking on the treadmill or down the street - if I had the app open, I could see my steps clicking away in the app, in real-time, just like on my watch.

Now, it just stays on the last sync.   Sometimes if I manually refresh it several times in a row over several seconds it realizes what I want and starts counting steps in real-time without stopping.

All of this is part of the newer app updateds pushed since Google took over.

I've been walking non-stop and had to refresh the FitBit app already 8-9x in the past few minutes.  It catches up and then the steps don't move anymore.  It used to "keep up" if I was actively walking while viewing the app.

Any ideas?

Hi @Fmckinnon - unfortunately as you point out the new V4 Fitbit App doesn't work well, syncing issues being one of the major problems.

This has been mentioned here many, many times over the past few months. Unfortunately all we can do is hope & wait for a fix to the Fitbit app. Hopefully the app dev team is aware of the sync issues and are working on a fix.

I'm glad to know it's not just me then ... so disappointing and frustrating.   Almost makes me want to leap over to Apple Watch, I'm a hard core Apple user and only reason I never did Apple Watch is because I won a fitbit in a contest before Apple Watches were even on the market ... I even know what a FitBit was when they told me I'd won it.   It was the old one that was a black wristband that had little lights on it.   So, when Apple Watch came out, I was already a FitBit user, and I'd gotten sucked into the fun "Daily Challenge" and "Workweek Hustle", social challenges .. .another thing that Google killed when they took over.

Any updates on this since it’s still a problem?

Nope, none. Over 2000 posts related to the word sync over the past few months and no response from the Fitbit team.

Still a problem.   Google acquires FitBit, for whatever reason, guts it, and then goes tone deaf.   It's like they don't even care.

Was on the treadmill a few days ago, and had my phone on my desk (I have a small walking treadmill under my standing desk) ... I have to wear the FitBit in my pocket because it won't track steps if it's on my wrist on this particular treadmill.   I had the FitBit app open on my iPhone and had to constantly force-refresh it to see where I was on my step count.   So annoying.

I noticed the same thing around the time Google took over.
