Is the HR issue watch by watch sensor problem, or software that MAY get fixed someday?

Just got the Sense, and can't fix the HR issue (runs ~20% high at rest) with all the 'fixes'.
Want to use this watch (for all the health monitoring). I'm wondering if I return this and buy again, will I luck out and get a good one?

If it CAN be fixed with an update, I haven't seen any updates besides "Our team is aware, but may not be able to provide a fix in the immediate future" from 12-14-2021

Common opinion is that the bug will never be fixed. Official replies from Fitbit moderators swing between "you're wearing it wrongly" to "you can't compare it to other devices" to "we know about it but we won't do anything ' (not exact words but better interpreted)

Hi @Lollilove  - while there could be slight differences between watches the underlying problem as @Rufous44 indicates is the same.

Some people report it over reading during exercise and others under reading, so it may also be related to a person's skin texture, colour, or age (skin thickness) as tattoos also affect it.

The older Versas are more reliable, though generally a sense at rest should be fine, if it isn't it would be best to return it.
