Is the latest update is bricking sense watches?

Had an update forced on my watch today which killed a perfectly good watch.   

Was told the phone is out of support.   Tough luck.

 

I think this has been my 5th fitbit device....and my last.

Update is never forced on watch.  Only way watch gets update is by notice on phone app that firmware update is available.  Then you have to click on the in phone app to start downloading the firmware update,

Before posting, re-read to see if it would make sense to someone else not looking at your Fitbit or phone.
