Music app disconnects after watch face turns off

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I have a Sense that keeps disconnecting from my music (controlling phone music's through watch) every time the watch face turns off (about 30 seconds). I found a bandaid fix by switching from phone music to play on watch and back to play on phone, but that it beyond tedious to do every single time you want to pause your music/media. How do i keep it connected continuously without keeping the display always on?

Using an Android and Sense, both are up to date.

Odd, works fine for me.

What if you button back to the watch face

and then button back to controls?

Do you move the music app to the background, before the watch turns off?

Sometimes it works fine, but most times it doesn't. No I don't move it to the background, just let the screen timeout after I press play. Do I have to back out of the app every time?

No, just let the watch face timeout after hitting play. If I go activate the watch after the face sleeps, it says "start playing music on phone", but the second I force a reload (through cycling the controlled device option on the watch, or use the Google assistant on the phone) it picks up my phones media again and restored the connection.

That depends on your phone and version of OS, @ImBruce. With some android phones, if the app is in the foreground when the phone sleeps. The Fitbit app is shut down then music control and notifications may fail.

The only way to know is to try. Or shut the fitbit app and restart the phone. Only the background task will start up.

Seems like a bug. Honestly I'm going to return my fitbit (for a number of reasons), this being a big one. For the price this product is not worth it and it feels like a slap in the face to have to pay more for your information on a subscription model.

Now that Google has taken over maybe the company will make a product that is ground breaking, works properly, and has more than a few days of battery life in the real world.

Thank you all for the advice and help, appreciate you and hope all is well!

I f the app turns off when the phone screen turns off.

It is one of two things.

  • The app is in the foreground when the phone sleeps
  • The app needs to have power management disabled.
