My Sense is autorecognizing activity I didn't do

I am perplexed.   My new fitbit Sense is autoregonizing walks I never took ( I was working all day at a desk) and then when I take my walk,  it doesn't record the entire walk properly ( ie  it is a 1.37 mile walk and my Sense only recorded .38 miles).  I have re installed it, not sure if that will work. 

 

Was wondering if anyone experienced this or if my unit might be defective?

It is based on timing , you can set it for as low as ten minutes, but it will attempt to recognize based on your movement. 

Fitbit Ionic 72.1.15 (recalled), Fitbit Sense 128.6.17 and Pixel Watch 2 BW1A.250605.004.
