My sense keeps not syncing.

I have had my Sense for some time and recently it keeps not syncing even after doing all suggested turn iff Bluetooth etc.  The only way to start it up again is to completely turn off and reboot but this looses my info.

Do you need to replace it is it faulty?

Hi @GwenGrayland - this can be a firmware issue.

Try holding the button for 10 seconds till it vibrates and the logo appears and wait for it to start, instead of a Shutdown as that shouldn't lose any data.

I've done this numerous times but it still drops off again a few hours later. I wonder how long they expect these to last. Quite expensive to have yo keep replacing every year or so.

@GwenGrayland - which firmware version do you have? in the App click profile photo and device photo and at the top.

I have the same issue with my Sense 2, purchased in July 2023. None of my other Fitbits have had this problem with syncing. The only solution I've found is restarting my Fitbit as suggested, but it's kinda tiresome. I believe I'm on the latest firmware version, as below, for the Australia/NZ region. Thanks!

Thanks it seems I'll have to do the same. I have checked and I am also on the latest version in UK and all upgrades up to date.
This is my third Fitbit but not sure I'll be replacing with another ☹️

@SunsetRunner  - thanks, that version should work, make sure you don't have more than one Fitbit app device running, and that phone battery savings is not shutting down the app, that might help.

@Guy_I've only got the Sense 2 connected to the app, so that should be fine. As far as I can tell, my phone isn't turning off syncing, but I'll do some more digging around. I'll let you know if I find anything quirky. Thanks.

EDIT: I just looked at the Bluetooth pairings on my phone, and even though my old Versa isn't charged, and was disconnected from my Fitbit app and account, it was still showing as a 'paired device'. I've now removed it, so will see if that makes any difference. SO WEIRD!

Hi @Guy_ , I've been monitoring this since my last response (and disconnecting my old Versa from Bluetooth). I've uninstalled the Fitbit app on my phone and reinstalled. The app is set to never sleep. I'm still having to 'reboot' my Sense 2 multiple times a day in order to get the Weather and Sleep settings to sync. (These are the ones causing the issues). I've also removed and reinstalled the weather app multiple times. I've not had this issue with any of my other Fitbits. Do you think it's the apps, or the watch itself?! Thanks!

@GwenGrayland - it is more likely as you have a Sense that it is a phone issue if you have restarted the watch.

Try removing both the watch Bluetooth entries from the phone's Bluetooth then try Logout of the Fitbit App and swipe off the active window and in Android clear the storage cache and force stop it and then restart the phone.

Make sure there are no other devices running the Fitbit App switched on.

Restart the watch again by holding the button for 10 seconds till it vibrates and the logo appears and wait for it to start.

Login and wait for any pair, link or Fixit prompts and sync.

If it doesn't remake the connection in the Fitbit App click profile photo and "+ Set up a Device" and replace to get connected again.

Also make sure that phone allows the Fitbit App to run in background.

You can try the watch app SimpleCheckUp

The second test sees if the watch is finding the Fitbit App and the shows when last synced with details which may help.

@SunsetRunner - as you have a Sense 2 and this is the Sense 1 forum have a look on the Sense 2 forum (and perhaps continue posting there). Others have noted your problem and it was thought to be related to the later firmware, not currently available, but it may be more general as you don't have that version.

Mine is the same, I have not been able to sync with either phone or laptop - in fact I have had quite a few problems recently, including shortened battery life. I wonder if it has been affected by the merger / takeover by Google?
