New Fitbit sense arrived scratched

I previously had a versa 2 which failed within the 2 year warranty. Fitbit offered me a new sense of 50% off another device. Getting a replacement versa 2 did not come with a new warranty (it would be out of warranty when the broken Versas expired). For that reason I chose to get a sense as it would come with a new 2 year warranty.

The sense has now arrived with multiple scratches on the back silver panel. A quick search online shows me this issues has happened to others. I contact Fitbit to be told I can return this device to America (I am in the Uk), postage paid for a refurbished product to be sent out. I keep the straps and charger, returning only the pebble. I explained that I have not even used the device yet and do not want a refurbished one. I am told my only other option is to return it completely for a refund. This return is to Birmingham but I have to pay for tracked postage.
Fitbit send me a device that is faulty and I have to pay to return it. I’m am very disappointed by their customer service. I have had multiple Fitbits, all that have broken after a few years. This service is finally the end of my Fitbit journey. If you are considering buying a Fitbit, my advice is, don’t.

I have seen a lot of posts that people are offered a “refurbished” tracker when their new ones have major issues.
I have also seen a lot of posts from people who asked if their tracker can have the battery replaced or a cracked screen replaced. Fitbit’s answer is there is no way to repair them- the battery is not replaceable and the cracked screen cannot be replaced.

so my question is: Where are the

“refurbished” trackers coming from??

@Rge They claim they're from order errors and stuff. They also have a 45 day return window if you don't like it. I'd imagine those returns are re used? Yes, they don't repair Fitbits so they're not actually opened and fixed. But have been previously in someone else's possession..

Exactly my point. They aren’t actually refurbished. More like recycled to another person.
