New outdoor exercise does not give steps stat

I was thrilled to see the new outdoor activity tracking in the exercise Ap.  I am disappointed it does not give how many steps taken in the stats. (fitbit sense)

@Feliciamc   Fitbit's description for the Outdoor Workout isn't easy to find in the Help articles, but it was designed for non-step based outdoor activities like kayaking.  It doesn't help that the outdoor workout icon is the same as the interval workout icon. You can't rename this workout.  I'm pretty sure that if you delete the exercise, your steps and distance will get added back to your daily total.  I think you will only lose the day of exercise credit.

I will update this post with Fitbit's description if I can find it.

The Charge 4 was the first Fitbit to get this shortcut.  Charge 4 users had your same experience.  The Charge 4 icon initially was a figure wearing a backpack.  Fitbit cleared up that confusion by changing the icon to a figure in a kayak.  Fitbit is aware that this icon is incorrect.  The Versa 3, Luxe and the Charge 5 all have the same icon error.

Trying to remember the weirdness of "outdoor workout", I experimented with it yesterday and it seemed to count the steps in daily total even though not giving step total for the workout.  But it still totally confuses me take with grain of salt.

Before posting, re-read to see if it would make sense to someone else not looking at your Fitbit or phone.

The only place I can find a description of the Outdoor Workout is in the Charge 4 section of this Help article.  Fitbit mentions kayaking and skiing, which I take to mean downhill skiing and not cross country.  I also include stand up paddle board.   Don't use this shortcut if you are doing a step based activity.  Fitbit treats the distance like biking and swimming, meaning the distance doesn't get added to your daily total.
