I have just downloaded the Fitbit App today with the latest version of the app. I have started to Bluetooth pair my Sense Fitbit with my phone. When it comes to setting up on wrist calls the app shows that the Bluetooth portion fails to connect. I have tried to allow the Fitbit app to run in the background of my phone but it won't pop up as an option to do so.
How can I fix this? I have tried chatting with a two different support personal and both ended the chat before solving the problem.

I must be missing something. My fitbit app is always running in the background. I click on the icon and it runs in the foreground. Then I click on another icon and it continues running in the background.

Mine might be automatically running in the background but when I contacted the support personal they mentioned how it is an option in setting to take away or allow the app to do it. I have not seen this option to see wether or not it is currently running in the background. So, I have no idea if it is the reason why I can't connect.

Sorry, but this is beyond my expertise.
But just logically, I cannot see how running app in the background could have anything to do with it, if it is running in the foreground when you are trying to set it up.
I do know when setting up a Fitbit device first time, sometimes it takes several tries to get it connected, and it can help to make sure there are no other bluetooth devices nearby.

I think maybe what they were trying to tell you is: make sure that the FitBit app is not being optimized under Battery Optimization. That will stop the app from running in the background. As mentioned previously the app is always running in the background unless you turned on battery optimization for the FitBit app, or have some kind of task killer app on your phone. Task killer / phone cleaner / phone performance apps are very bad for Android and can interfere with Bluetooth setup. I have had no issues with my Sense and my Pixel 6 & Pixel 7 Pro. The initial watch > phone pairing was pretty quick, but it did take a long time for the answer calls on wrist pairing, and I believe special permissions were needed.
