SPO2 numbers interpreted

Hi all,

My question is in regards to the actual meaning of the SPO2 score and range we see.

In particular, what is the meaning of the range?

When we see, say, a score of 94% and a range of 91% -- 97%, is the range corresponding to the minimum and maximum SPO2 values observed during sleep? Or the range somehow corresponds to a confidence interval of sorts?

As SPO2 scores are meant principally for detecting sleep apnea, there are important implications based on which is the correct interpretation of the range...

If it is a min-max interval of SPO2 values, then the above hypothetical scores would make it unlikely that a sleep apnea event occurred (a minimum of SPO2 of 91% is safely above what is regarded as a sleep apnea or hypoxia)... If it is a confidence interval, then all bets are off (depending on the confidence level).

Any ideas?

Thanks!
